MODERATORS
I applied for 246 scholarships including 35 essays and over 90 pages of them. I recieved one (1) scholarship for $500 and 134 rejection letters. Im still paying down $21k, which isnt as bad as most people, but still. I only qualified for Pell grants in my 4th year because i was old enough for them to take me seriously when i said my mother disowned me and i was at constant risk of being homeless and actively working a full time (40-48 hour) job while attending college.
I received $0 in help from anyone, but $20 from a friend for lunch one time. I don't think anyone should have to go through what i have. College should be free, mainly because most of the information was useless and the piece of paper is the only thing anyone cares about
