relationship catharsis

Today my ex wakes up in Tasmania with her sister on the holiday that I broke up with to avoid. We broke up for many reasons, but I'd checked out and couldn't face feigning relationship investment for a full week. We had a nice chat the other day, she let me have it on a few fronts with good points. I seem to lack emotional availability, I didn't have anything to say to that :). She'd acknowledged what wasn't working for her. I feel we were both hoping the not working stuff would work but it wasn't going to. We met at bad places in our lives and were good for each other during that time. It's a shame that it didn't work but it's nice that it happened. Less traumatic than messy youthful breakups. I should try again.

hugs

Holiday with my ex was the worst most awkward time.

we rented an airbnb with the young Seagoons at a place near lorne

I did not want share a room and didn't

but I basically never went on holiday for a very long time and part of the reason was because holidays are a special time and i didn't want any special times

re emotional availability, I had to look that up, had no clue what that meant. I think it is in a lot of ways pop psych speak and can mean anything or nothing. It can also be a vague way to attribute blame. Unless someone recounts real actions I'm going to say it's a pretty useless thing to say other than as a statement of how someone feels about communication

So it's a tricky one. My ex didn't say much and I don't think I would have liked it if he did, there was nothing there but distrust and malice from the get go , but I might have run much much earlier if he did.

me, i stopped sharing with him when what I would share became points for him to abuse and mock. So not sharing was not a bad thing on my part. But as rule I was still open and kind to him.

I broke things off so actual availability was an issue.

I've just received a PIC of the ex, her sister and her fwb at a distillery we were going to visit. I don't care for whiskey much anyway. Glad she's got someone there for comfort. Bit gauche sending a photo including the fwb, it was taken by a third party so it seems and active choice. The drinking was an issue for me too so photos from a distillery lean into that.

How would you feel going no contact?

I feel that if I don't maintain contact we'll be low contact anyway. She came to my place FIVE times in ten months of relationship. I made the whole thing very convenient for her, I doubt I'll see much effort from her to hang out. I got an invite to the birthday party in a month but if she's sending me holiday pics with her FWB maybe fuck it all.

Yeah, that FWB photo is quite the choice...

BTW, I might have missed it, but how did it go with the apartment?!

[-] CadMunt@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

No luck yet. Like AJ, I'll keep at it. X

[-] lowtheseal@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Were you happy with that balance? And yeah if someone I saw sent me pics with their FWB, I would duck right off.

[-] CadMunt@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Not really happy with it.

There was a little story attached that he happened to be in Tasmania doing a whiskey tasting which is what my ex wanted to do there.

There was a line in Landman where he said the beauty of breaking up is that you don't have to care about this stuff.

[-] lowtheseal@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Yikes.

Yep sometimes break ups are for the better hey.

[-] CadMunt@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Are you still seeing your partner? I remember you seemed to start a new thing a little after mine started (Nov last year).

[-] lowtheseal@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Yes I am. We will be doing long distance soon but it should be fine I hope haha

[-] CadMunt@aussie.zone 1 points 1 week ago

It will or wont be fine but the you/relationship will be better for it. Sometimes a little stress can help define priorities.

[-] lowtheseal@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Yeah agreed. Test of strength

seems like she wasn't/isn't too sensitive to your needs, feelings and experience ๐Ÿคจ

We were good for each other while both in a dark place. It's good that it's ended.
