got the notification to verify my age when trying to access NSFW posts or profiles already for a few weeks now, but as of today my whole account is blocked unless I verify. I guess that's it then. Based in Austria btw, so there is no specific law in place that forces Reddit to implement this and I will definetly not give my personal information to Persona, a company that belongs to Peter Thiels Palantir group.

It's better here anyway. Spez has banned everyone and there's only bots left.

I already made this account a while ago, but never really got into Lemmy so much, since it's so damn hard to post videos here - that is the main reason I still used Reddit more - you can just drop videos there without having to use other video platforms that require you to make an account too,...

debatable that it's better here, the ideal is to use nothing.

sure, it's a lot less fashy on lemmy, but goddamn there are some shockingly dense motherfuckers on this website that are worse than redditors. the top comment on basically every article posted to lemmy is someone aggressively and angrily asking a deeply ignorant rhetorical question for attention, and it's usually answered by the article. at least reddit sometimes has a decent comment at the top.

i swear half of lemmy is just people going "i literally don't understand this simple thing and it's also the stupidest thing i've ever heard" when in reality it's just a bunch of people inside of a social bubble that don't understand the actual world around them, like, at all. and i don't mean just politically, i mean generally.

never going back to reddit but there are just so many shamefully stupid people on lemmy, it's grating.

you can block those instances, and communities. tankies are the worst, and a few instances for some reaso blahaj will ban you for anything too.

Everybody reading this: IKR, those idiots are so frustrating.

I literally don't understand how you could just come out and say the stupidest thing in the world ;)

Yeah lemming's brains are melted. Literacy in the bit.

Commenting on an article without reading it should carry the penalty of a day in the stocks.

Sometimes I want to know what actually happened in the article to know if it's worth reading without giving some clickbait bullshit the benefit of my clicks.

Asking for a title adjustment, mirror, or source of a transcript with intent to read shall be a valid defence under the law. However said comment must not otherwise violate the tenants of the law nor contain inducements for others to do so.

ehhh. the nsfw community is a bit lacking. which, like it or not, drives user engagement and boosts content creation.

We defederated the NSFW instance because they allow a fauxbait community.

What is fauxbait, you may wonder? Well, you've probably heard of jailbait, which is nudes of children who look like adults. Fauxbait is faux jailbait. It's nudes of adults who look like children who look like adults.

And often these are regular consenting adult porn models, who look like adults, but some pervert went "nyehehe these women look like children" and posted them to this community. And I think that's degrading and harmful to these women's livelihoods. I wouldn't want someone to look at My boobs and decide I looked like a kid.

Furthermore, according to Australian law, framing a picture as child porn (or fake child porn) makes it child porn. It's kinda the same problem as the 4000 year old dragon who looks like a little girl.

Is it better than r/jailbait and all the pedo shit on Reddit? Sure. But it's still pedo shit, and I want a social network with zero pedo shit.
