Why don't we humans use these kinds of wheels? That seems like fun.

We used to, that's how cranes were operated in the middle ages

Look what they've taken from us

I wouldnt say anyone stole it from us, you could in theory build this but its going to cost more then you imagine. You don't get nice long solid wood like that for cheap and at that scale you're paying 20 bucks per bolt or something like that.

For perspective its like 4-6 grand just for a barebones shed in materials.

At most your hoa is going to give you the most flack for having this, or your significant other who's wondering why so much of your funds are going to a seige weapon, and why she doesnt get invited over to the book club anymore. It is sad how greatness is overcome by minor inconveniences though.

Well at least you came up with a good explanation to the latter. And the rest of your points are also solid. Let's get building!

Turns out it is not only the superior siege machine, but also the superior training tool

Don't we use treadmills instead? Although I can picture a gym with a whole row of wheels set up

[-] jdr@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 days ago

It pretty much is the original treadmill, as long as it was attached to a millstone

[-] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Just one big, wide wheel. Last person still on their feet is the winner.

[-] craftrabbit@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago

Yes, we do, and I think it's a shame that we do those instead of wheels
