Rules:
- The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
- Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
- If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
- Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
- For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
- Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
- This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

Litterally why I started to pay for Youtube Premium last election cycle. "Daddy why does want to kill babies?"
Started playing music over bluetoon in the car to avoid the same ads on the radio.
It took lots of effort to get rid of them, but I see almost no ads anymore. Not on the internet, not YouTube on my phone or in my TV shows or when I’m listening to music. I’m practically allergic to them. Now when I catch an ad that made it past me, it gets a physical reaction from me from just how FUCKING LOUD everything is all the time. And not just volume, but audio compression, colors, camera angles, costumes, set pieces, all of it. It’s a goddamn assault. They all just want their little piece of your time.
Obligatory Bansky quote
People are taking the piss out of you everyday. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you’re not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers and they are laughing at you. You, however, are forbidden to touch them. Trademarks, intellectual property rights and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity. Fuck that. Any advert in a public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It’s yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. You can do whatever you like with it. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head. You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing, you especially don’t owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have re-arranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission, don’t even start asking for theirs.More like Based-sy. Holy shit that's a good quote.
Dude, you can get ad-free youtube just by using a browser with a decent adblocker. For free. Stop forking money over to Google.
It's why I allow very little screen time for my kids. I can't control the fucking ads. They are a part of the brain rot.
I think limiting screen time is great, tablet babies weird me out. But if/when the time comes where they need to be online more, consider helping them set up an adblocker on everything they use. Everyone hates ads including kids. They'd probably think you're awesome for it.
Why not just use an ad blocker or third party program?
That was my solution to constant ads attacking my rights right about then. I was willing to watch the occasional ad to fund the service. They ramped up the ads and advertised hate against me so all bets were off
I switched to NewPipe as my YouTube client, to the same effect
