Ok. So what is your suggestion for defeating republicans and trying to take back our democracy as quickly as necessary to prevent us from losing it forever?

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

We already lost it forever thanks to Biden and Merrick Garland.

Watch this. If the election is held and Dems win. Who will make Trump leave office when he says, "No".?

Will Todd blanche and the DOJ that's been gutted remove him? Will Kash Patel and the FBI that's been gutted remove him? Will Tom Homan and the secret police force better equipped than the Marines (that the Democrats support with 85% funding) remove him? Will Pete Hegseth and the military thats been gutted remove him? Will our intelligence agencies who are linked to Mossad remove him?

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works -3 points 2 days ago

Ok, so you've given up. Sit down and shut up, please, so the rest of us can try saving our democracy.

We don't need fatalist doomers like you telling us there's no hope, because there's always hope if people are willing to stand up. You obviously aren't, so sit down and shut up.

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Who said I gave up? Biden and Garland did that. Continuing to play their games is giving up

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

We already lost it forever thanks to Biden and Merrick Garland.

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

And that means give up to you?

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Lost forever means it is lost and cannot be regained. So yes, defeated and given up is what it sounds like. There is nothing in that semtemce to indicate you're willing to fight because the loss is done and it's gone forever.

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Means we need something new. Or something at all because what we thought we had was a myth

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

On that we can absolutely agree. The myth was dispelled for me after reading Trail of Tears in highschool. One of the biggest hurdles to change is the majority of citizens being completely unaware of US history outside of the whitewashed jingoistic version where the US are the good guys instead of thr complicated truth that for almost our entire history our country has been exploiting one population or another.

Get your ass in there and vote in every god damn primary for the progressive, stop donating and volunteering for any centrist, stop donating to any Democratic group that supports centrist and instead donate to progressive only-groups, donate and volunteer for the progressive running in the Democratic primary, be better than Tom Morello and if you're in a nice safe, Democratic stronghold, organize and do a small but significant mass protest vote.

Just spit balling ideas that I've been doing for a decade and a half, minus the last one, now that you can actually do to actually defeat republicans with people who will actually push back against them.

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

I'm already doing all that. I thought you were advocating the doomer both sides bad don't vote bullshit.

[-] 3abas@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I don't want to defeat republicans, I want to defeat both.

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

Cool. Me too. What's your plan? What are you doing that we can also do and help?

[-] 3abas@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Well, we are trying to organize around independent candidates that actually support our values, while you scream at us "DO YOU WANT TRUMP? THAT'S HOW YOU GET TRUMP" and insist on voting for Democrats, even when their candidate is not even viable.

You are supporting genocides, militarized police, the US jail system, US imperialism, etc, while calling yourself an ally and telling us to sacrifice our values and our bodies to protect you from Trump.

You throw us under the bus and blame us for not supporting your flavor of evil.

[-] stringere@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Hey guess what? I'm doing that, too. But when the election comes and I have a choice between more or less evil I will still go for damage control.

Don't let perfect get in the way of good. Purists of all strains are fucking cancer.

You are supporting genocides, militarized police, the US jail system, US imperialism, etc, while calling yourself an ally and telling us to sacrifice our values and our bodies to protect you from Trump.

Fuck you I'm not and fuck you for thr accusation.

[-] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I'm trans. I've been thrown under the bus. All those things you say and that we fight for, are VERY important. And you can do all of them with a democrat in charge easier than you can do them with a magat in charge.

By the time the fascism gets to "trans levels" for everyone, which is the only perceived positive from accelerating fascism, it will be too late to organize for progressives. It will be time to die in the streets. And I know we are now, I live it too, but today will look like the happiest day imaginable if magats win Congress and the Senate again.

By the time the majority are motivated by fascism, it is too late.

Do you think, in the "ashes of revolution" or more likely a foreign country invading, after almost all trans people are already dead from the camps so we make up 0.0001% of the population, do you think at that time there will be a push for trans rights at the top of the agenda?

Do you think people who watched their kids starve, who are almost dead themselves, sitting in the rubble of their neighborhood, after we were killed first, a distant memory occluded by so many deaths of loved ones, will they say "trans rights are human rights"?

In the rubble of liberated Germany, they threw us BACK INTO the camps to die.
