Who wants to hear me talk about parrots?

Other options:

  • cameras and how they work
  • accounting
  • games made by Remedy Entertainment
  • Smash Mouth

:D

Now let's talk about LED displays. Can we talk about LED displays, please, Mac? I've been dying to talk about LED displays with you all day, OK? "Charlieplexing" this name keeps coming up over and over again. Every day Charlieplexing is getting sent back to me. Charlieplexing! Charlieplexing! I look in the LED display, and this whole pinset is Charlieplexed! So I say to myself, "I gotta find this protocol! I go to wikipedia and to look up how to connect to the LED display with my goddamn hands! Otherwise, I'm never going to get this LED working and I'm going to keep coming back to this same display." So I go to the Charlieplexing page and what do I find out, Mac? What do I find out?! There is no Charlieplexing. It's not even real protocol, okay? So I decide, "Oh shit, buddy, I gotta dig a little deeper." There's no Charlieplexing? You gotta be kidding me! I got whole boxes full of LED displays! All right. So I start marchin' my way through the voltages on my multimeter and I tap the contact pins on the board and I say, "Vooltage.... vooolltage! I gotta talk to you about Charlieplexing." And when I test the contact pins what do I find? There's not a single goddamn line of continuity on that board! There...are...no...Voltages on the board. Mac, half the pins on the chip go straight to earth. This circuit is a goddamn ghost town!

Ok...

Do you think Jesse's body will be used as resonance source for the HRAs when she dies? Similarly to how Northmoor is being used as heat source.

Do you think Alan is Sam's self insert and that he feels haunted by Max Paine just like Alan is haunted by Casey?

Oooooh these are great questions! I am currently at work and will have to give this more attention later - I will edit my comment this evening once I have thought about it!

Don't spoil resonant tho, I have yet to play it and I don't known when I'll be able to

I choose parrots. Do you have a favorite species? What are your thoughts on the pet trade and hybrids? There are wild parrots where I live (Los Angeles, mostly Amazons) and I always love hearing them, even though it drives other people crazy. A few weeks ago while I was volunteering at the native plant garden a flock of about 40 or so flew over us, screaming their heads off, it was great!

My favourite are cockatoos since I grew up with one! Grew up with a lesser sulphur-crested (the kind from Indonesia) my fave cockatoo though is the Moluccan just because they are so extremely boisterous - I can relate haha 😅

As for pet trade, I mean, I have very limited knowledge on it, but from what I do know it is awfully exploitative, and with parrots not actually being domesticated, the ethics of the pet trade are dubious at best.

I absolutely love Amazons, I wish we had parrots where I am. The closest thing we have here are various corvids, which also have a place in my heart. :)

Cockatoos are very cool! I can’t imagine having to care for one with how needy and long-lived they are, though. And Amazons have so much personality! Earlier this week I was waiting at the bus stop in some light rain, and a pair of Amazons flew in absolutely screaming, then flew in gleeful, screaming circles about a half dozen times before they landed on a nearby tree and screamed some more. We only get rain like 3 months a year here so I think they were just thrilled about it 😁

Oh yes, I have plenty in common with parrots, namely that I scream when I am happy

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
