Make it point backwards too.

I can get behind this. Turn them on as revenge at the lifted truck with headlights right at the level where it makes your rear view mirror unusable if you're in a sedan.

This sounds like lidar with extra steps

[-] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago

I'm not sure what you think lidar is...

[-] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Laser that can spin 360 degrees

[-] kbobabob@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

Why would it need to spin 360 degrees

[-] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

To work both forwards and backwards

[-] elephantium@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Spinning is so much cooler than not spinning.

LIDAR is radar with lasers. You're not using it to blind anyone. It's a way of detecting the physical space around the sensor with a very high degree of accuracy, especially when it comes to distance.

shrug the only thing I have that employs lidar (afaik) is my vacuum robot, which has a warning to not look at the turret at ground level while it's in motion

I don't think what you think I think lidar means what I think you think it means
