What we’re seeing is an increase in the number of ways that people can influence electoral outcomes, and the formation of public opinion, free from public scrutiny. [...] The label I would put on all this stuff is privatisation of democracy.

One thing that bothers me is that this group has actively registered to say they are campaigning politically, but the donorship transparency rules don't apply to them. It's effectively an organisation set up to campaign for Act where Act lobbiers can donate without having their names made public.
