I'm not sure if anything could at this point. The large amount of users has resulted in a lot lower quality of posts.
Pretty much. I had a feed full of some of the biggest subreddits. And while I think that some of them like r/TIL or r/OutOfTheLoop can be occasionally informative or useful, the vast majority of large subreddits are just glorified spam.
