I've often wondered why these posts have up-votes when there are not yet any stories. I'm the first to comment here today and the up-vote count is 4.
Probably because people are watching the thread waiting to read something. Upvoting gives a post visibility so others see and comment, and it also encourages the creator (as in "yes, this is a post I want to see in my feed").
When someone else makes the daily thread, I will upvote it even when there are no comments.
I've wanted to create the daily thread myself once before because I had a spectacularly AMAZING thing to complain about, but I decided not to in case a simple copy paste was considered uncouth (maybe there's a button somewhere and I didn't RTFM).
A copy paste from the last one is basically par for the course! But there have been others writing other things in the body, that's fine too! There are no rules (so long as you follow the rule).
