Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that doesn’t justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you
  • Something humourous that happened to you
  • Something frustrating that happened to you
  • A quick question
  • A request for recommendations
  • Pictures of your pet
  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like a hippo
  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

Work is a little surreal today. I'm at one of the ministries and today is the last day of pretty much everyone who took voluntary redundancy. The farewell morning teas are sequentially occupying the kitchen areas.

I have heard this can be hardest on those left behind. People feel a form of survivor's guilt, while most of the ones that took the voluntary redundancy are happy to be going.

I don't know about guilt but I can confirm their work did not leave with them.

Don't worry, I'm sure they will double your salary to compensate for your doubled workload.
