I haven't ever felt unsafe in the CBD, but also can't remember being there outside of daylight hours for many years. So I guess that is reflected in the survey results being much higher for that time.
Interesting that people are finding their suburban areas better and the CBD worse. I expect there are a lot less people in the CBD day to day (including me), but it seems this trend started in 2018 which is before the massive COVID WFH surge.
I've had derros get aggressive with me because they didn't like the way I looked at them, and this was during working hours.
Being constantly asked for money gets old fast as well.
Oh I don't look at strangers. You risk catching the eye of a UNICEF fundraiser, safer to stare at the ground.
Same here, walk fast and don't make eye contact.
I don't think Council realise just how grating being constantly pestered for money can be actually. It definitely means I don't go to certain parts of Wellington unless I have to.
