When I lived in Japan, if I was out with my wife people would always speak to her (she was Japanese). My Japanese was reasonably good, and my wife said that there were no real issues with my grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation, but still people didn't understand me because I was a foreigner and they knew they couldn't understand foreigners.
People were doing it 50 years ago too.
I don't know if they are available in the us, and with the current tariff war they may not be worth it, but we bought a Canadian Douglas mattress about 5 years ago and it has been superb. Most comfortable mattress we have ever slept on.
It gets delivered in a box, and expands when you take it out. They have a trial period of 6 months, 9 months, or something like that. If you decide not to keep the mattress, they refund your money and rather than sending the mattress back they find a local homeless shelter or other charity to give it to.
One feature you may have missed is the way Donaldson borrowed a huge amount of religious symbolism. The first trilogy is all about devotion to The Law, the focus of the Old Testament. The name "Covenant" is another clue.
The second trilogy is about sacrifice with clear references to the New Testament.
After that, I think Donaldson goes of in his own direction, and I don't find those books as compelling.
I don't think he is pushing a Christian agenda, or proselytizing on the sly, rather he is using well-known and influential symbolism, the basis for much of our culture, to backdrop the story he is telling.
That makes sense, because the music is repurposed from a musical that Meat and Steinman were writing.

Just in case anyone is wondering how true this is, about 10 years ago, an Australian TV anchor decided to keep wearing the same suit and see how long it took people to notice.
After a year, no one had mentioned it.
That said, I agree with the man's statement that it would overwhelmingly be women who criticized other women for wearing the same clothes.

I hate to break it to you, but wages have become less and less fair. The person who created these plates may have been able to support a family on a single income.
They are increasingly expensive because the people at the top are demanding a higher and higher proportion of the income.
