For persons disgusted by stacked plates this is perfect.
People who have this fancy plates keep their plates in a rack or on one of those display shelves you see in old movies. Not stacked like a peasant.
Behold, the vast tracts of great room wall whereupon perches my finest China. And yes, that is wallpaper, and the pattern does match up perfectly at the seams, what of it? I'm not some two-bit provincial rube, I'll have you know!
Why are you assuming I'm buying one for everybody?
This is the me plate, screw the rest.
Or the ones who hate people that like clean plates.
There's nothing stopping you from buying whimsical kitchenware (except for the fact it only comes in more than average wage per set or in impressively cheap but has lead painting)
Sounds like there are in fact two things stopping me from buying it then.
It’s probably also too big or too small, too warm, or too cold. Maybe too hard, or too soft.
One of ‘em’s gotta be just right? Right?
impressively cheap but has lead painting
Mmmm, extra sweet!
Meanwhile, in Japan in the 80s, they were putting penguin orgies on their mugs.

(There's also rabbits, whales, and some other animal IIRC)
How the fuck is Japan able to make shit so horny and wholesome simultaneously?!
A lack of puritanism in their history?
Looks at MacArthur governorship era censorship laws which are still on their books
Wouldn't say a lack by any means but perhaps a more openness to sexuality historically.
Either the bear is three dimensional or the shadows are really well done. If they are 3D they won't stack and would be a nightmare to clean. Worth it for special occasions?
Yes, I'm fun at parties.
I think you just buy one for decoration. Not everything has to practical.
Very true! I think part of the reason I'm being bitter right now is that I live in a studio apartment that I can barely afford and have literally no room for decorations. I never bother to even decorate my walls, because who knows how long I'll be able to afford the rent?
I didn't mean to make this another "fuck capitalism" thread. Oops.
Yeah people used to display their plate collection..
It seems pretty easy to clean with a scrub brush.
Brush would clean this with ease
Why on earth did this make me shed a nostalgic tear?
Because it's the kind of joyful artisanship that may never be part of our society again.
It actually is. Very much so. But it's increasingly expensive as people demand things like a fair wage for their work.
I hate to break it to you, but wages have become less and less fair. The person who created these plates may have been able to support a family on a single income.
They are increasingly expensive because the people at the top are demanding a higher and higher proportion of the income.
I'm well aware. And it's also because it takes a lot to live now. A friend of mine is a farmer and does ceramics. Her stuff is expensive, and beautifully made. Real craft takes time and time is labor.
Quickly scrolling, these look like titties ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
All my potential inheritance was spent on basically worthless stuff like this...
There is no way there are that many plates there
I saw cups with little figurines like this in a store two weeks ago, you can still buy this
My mum has a bunch of cups with Diddl mice on them.
They're doing what now with the mice?
I swear it's safe to google! but make sure of to leave the "e" out of "diddl".
Could imagine my mother having this in a shitty dark stain reproduction cabinet.
Were they still using lead paint back then, because all I can think about is that this will probably leech lead into all your food
In the US, lead paint was banned in 78.
I would use these though. Bring them back!
