I think we should wait and see if France or Ireland head down this path as well. It's not like Canada's the first.
Yup, which is why we should have been diversifying decades ago. Kudos to Carney for doing it now, but like... this really shouldn't be the conversation in 2026.
This, twice. Give me Crown over Jack any day.
Neither is getting ripped off by Loblaws.
I mean, sometimes cheapest wins. As long as what you're walking out with is Canadian or at least not American. Personally my other options are Loblaws and Metro, and between the three of them milk is usually cheaper at Walmart, just as an example. And yes, I buy a Canadian brand.
Wo. Hey now. You can't be getting all logical and factual in an online Ottawa community. That's against at least 4 different rules.
For the same reason NYC won't have that in 4 years. Though I agree we can do better than the current crop.
Now would be a perfect time for Leiper to produce an adult tax policy. Unfortunately, he's choosing to consult those same whiners after the election.
Ask Ottawa the last 4 years, or Ontario the last... oh I dunno... 20. At least since Dalton "no new taxes" McGuinty.
You sure we're in the same Canada? I mean, sure it's not great and hasn't been for at least 20 years, but it's not the hellscape you're describing either. That, I'm afraid, is in about another 20 years.
Not entirely following you here. Winding down what?

Because renting from the government isn't a good option either. I've done that and you couldn't pay me to do it again. If I'm gonna be stuck renting, give me a landlord who's motivated to fix shit when I say it's broken. That is emphatically not the government.
