Got assigned my first client today! Also a title change. Now service delivery manager. Fancy title same job as before.

Otherwise there's a lot to take in! It's only day 2 so expectations aren't high, but still. I want to be picking this all up quickly so I can to the actual job.

I’m sorry to have concerned anyone yesterday.

TW medicalI’m making every effort to take care of my health, have been involving advocates and have shown up to the ER repeatedly.

Unfortunately medical care for rare or chronic illnesses involves a lot of barriers, jumping through hoops and waiting. I have been seeking help and answers for a very long time.

I have been seeing specialists and have recently had to change hospitals because I wasn’t getting anywhere with the previous ones and they don’t perform the procedure I now need.

I’m currently being handballed between a private specialist and a public system that is dragging its feet. Even if I convince this doctor and pay out of pocket the earliest I could see him is September. I will also continue to attend the ER to build a relationship with the new hospital and try to expedite things further. (I have an existing referral to their specialists that has already been expedited but I could still be waiting a while.)

I will continue to do my best to get the treatment but it’s likely to be an ongoing struggle and I’m not 100% sure that I will get it soon enough.

Horrible subject. Normally I don’t talk about it. The only reason I even posted is that things are getting serious so I wanted to warn you guys and give you ample time to adjust to the idea if by some chance I don’t make it.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Thanks for the update - I think we were all a bit concerned. If this eases your mind, I'm fairly sure someone here (might even be me) will take care of Melbcat if needed in a hurry and you don't have time to set up a preferred option. I don't have a cat at present, so can offer no charge care in my home which is cat proofed in anticipation of getting a cat in the near future.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Thanks so much.

I’m stressed about it but if worst comes to worst I’m speaking with a support worker about taking Melbcat. With luck it won’t need to happen but I’ll get my ducks in a row.

Yay: I didn't lose my expensive but very good fingerless gloves, they're at the doctor's!

Nay: now I have to drive there and back. Meh. At least I'm not as incapacitated as the last two days. I really need those gloves though!

Also, reading that thread on the escaped cow in South Yarra on the other site, I have had that song in my head all morning. We will fight for, bovine freedom...

The new sewing machine inspired me to finish a simple job I've been putting off for ages - I have sewn a zipper into a cardigan my Mum knitted for me ages ago. The machine sews beautifully, I'm very pleased with it.

In a tentative sign that I might finally be kicking this stupid cold/flu/whatever, I just had to stop work and make emergency pikelets. I haven't felt like eating anything for a week so this is good.

..my garmin watch did give me a heartrate warning while I was doing it so I think a couple more days on go slow is a good idea

If you commit murder in a senseless, vicious and unprovoked attack, I don't care that you were only 16. You need to be locked up for life, for the safety of society if nothing else.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

gang violence should carry an automatic sentence. You wanna act the teenage dickhead you get treated like a teenage dickhead. Where the fuck are the parents in all this? Lock them up too. jeez I sound old.

I’ve uploaded it if you want to have a look.

Song is Believer from Imagine Dragons

This was done some time ago. I really need to get back into it as it’s lots of fun.

Today marks my 1 year anniversary of living in lead tenant. It sure feels like it's been longer than a year.

It's an odd feeling. Overall, my life is definitely better now than it was this time 1 year and 6 months ago, but with everything that's happened recently, it's difficult to say that I'm still happy here. It's difficult to think back on how good, and how happy I was a month after moving in to now when I wake up in a panic at 2 in the morning thinking I've heard something, and barricade my door at night time.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 14 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Baku, I think I speak for a lot us when I say how impressed I am with your maturity and common sense. Things have been hard for you recently, and this will take some time to adjust to. Waking up at 2 am thinking we've heard something happens to us all, I think though for most of us its just possums or rats or a piece of household equipment falling over (thank you cats). You are being exceptionally mature about this, especially since the threat is probably still quite real.

Blargh. This is not the hour for cleaning of the cat trays. But my brain is dumb.

I feel like I'm stuck in waiting mode in life right now. Next year is very up in the air - if I get a job, will I be able to return to study? Etc.

Trying to focus on the present.

Pakige was not at my local post office. I didn't even look before I drove there, but it was actually at a business centre so I had an impromptu drive to Bayswater to collect it. While I was out I took the opportunity to top up the petrol tank at a station which is still at 177c instead of 219c which most of them have jumped to.

Pakige was worth the drive - I now have a new-to-me sewing machine. It appears to be barely used and in full working order, including the all important automatic needle threading which I really struggle to do myself now that my eyesight is getting dodgy.

I spent a few hours trying to tidy up outside today. I was planning on doing gardening, but ended up deciding to sweep the patio and pavement instead. It was still kind of calming though. I could spend a month straight sweeping it and there'd still be more to do, but at the same time I can still see I'm making actual progress. It was soothing.

I really need to tackle the mess I've created inside. It's been hard to get started, because I also have to clean up the mess the last kid left. The program manager cleaned most of the obvious stuff before I got back, but there was a bunch she didn't notice. Stains in my fridge. Dirty plates in the cupboard. Random phlegm in a cup. Etc. He also went through my cupboard and stole or fucked with a lot of my food, and tipped flower and sugar all through my cupboard, which is on me to clean up too.

It feels so violating having people go through my stuff. I noticed clothes that I had in a bag tipped out, and my paperwork box rifled through, a few empty product boxes I kept had been pulled apart and torn up. It makes me feel so violated and upset. I wonder if he did that specifically to make me as upset and cause as much damage as possible. They make us fill in these fucking stupid all about me things where you have to list your likes and dislikes. I listed one of my dislikes as people going through my things or entering my space without permission. Not going to make that mistake again, that's for sure

Edit: after writing it, I feel pretty sure that's probably what it was. No doubt the valuable things that were stolen would've been stolen to hock for drugs, but the rest (like slashing my bike seat and poster) definitely would've been done purely to cause distress. Cuntbag.

I have a safe now though (a month too late...), so I'll put my valuables and documents in there from now on.

Pet dilemma. I've bought 2 new cat trees online, because 3 cats/1 tree not good. One is ready for pick up and it's for the youngest flufflebum. He likes to sit in the area between the kitchen and the dining table so he can watch me and speak snugs in. Its a small hut thing with a bed up on a platform. Do I set it up now or wait until the second one arrives for the spicy cat so it's equal? Edit: the ginger fluff has claimed his bed. The troll under the bridge is unhappy, but hers is bigger and hopefully not far away.

[–] Cendana@aussie.zone 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Plot twist: only 1 tree gets used at a time whilst the other sits idle.

anyone else get a kick out of doing random tasks without their partner knowing and then seeing how long it takes them to notice? (if at all). Usually bigger jobs have to be scheduled between us with the toddler and all, but today I used my lunch break to do the lawn and i'm giddy with the prospect of her looking at it like a weeks time and going "wait.... when the heck do you do that?!"

Here's a new one.

Bought a pizza from leos in kew and it had a bolt in it.

Very lucky I didn't bite down too hard.

Don't really care if it's a hair, or half a rat but a bolt would be an expensive fix if that went wrong.

I had a dream where I got picked up in car with a kangaroo in it. I sat in the passenger seat but because I was sitting in it's seat it had to sit on the driver's lap (it was the driver's pet) it's legs were spilling onto my side. I asked if I could move the roos leg because it was digging into my ribs. The kangaroo hissed at me.

When we got to where we were meant to, they were giving away some cool stuff like electronics and collectables and there wasn't much stuff left but someone had kept me a Snoopy dog mat.

I dropped my phone quite harshly last night, and this morning I noticed I've finally shattered the screen protector. I got this phone on September 5th, but I didn't even use it until like the 7th or 8th because I was too scared of breaking it. Also, it's a glass backed phone, so it slid off my nightstand because apparently it's on a very, very, slight slant.

I took my phone in its box to one of those case shops in the middle of Watergardens shopping centre and asked the lady what the best case she had was. I wanted something durable that comes up ABOVE the screen, not just sits flush, and doesn't pop off easily like those cheap shitty eBay cases. She brought out about a dozen before I found one that actually had a decent clearance above the screen and looked sturdy. She had to order it in, and she sent me a message when it was ready to come pick it up. I picked it up and couldn't figure out how to put it on. Apparently sliding it in doesn't work. I took it to the phone last and asked her how to put it on, and apparently my case actually has 3 different components: a plastic back, a plastic front frame, and a rubber grippy thing that goes all the way around it.

She also put the screen protector on for me, and managed to do it well, properly lines up, and with no bubbles. I think I might actually take it back to her so she can replace it. I know I could save 10 bucks by doing it myself, but she did it faster and better than I can, and it stayed attached to the screen longer than when I do it (I'm not sure whether that's a case of a higher quality screen protector/adhesive, or just a case of me not pressing firmly enough)

Why is this an essay. FFS what's wrong with me, why do I write this much about a fucking screen protector Jesus christ

Reasons why I stay when I despise my manager. Related job posted today: 6 grand less, talking to public, oversee whole other branch of stuff, look after kids… and have a qualification that does not teach the most relevant skill. Fuck off.
