MODERATORS

UPDATE: RESULTS HAVE CLOSED! thank you for your participation—we've received over 1,500 responses which is quite a lot more than we expected. aggregated results and community creation decisions should hopefully come in due time.

hello folks!

with our backlog cleared and many new people around, now's a good time to do our first-ever Beehaw Community Survey--the first of what will likely be(e) many to come. this survey should take no more than 5 or 10 minutes to fill out, so we strongly encourage you to do so when you are able to. you can find it at the following link:

Beehaw Community Survey

the survey is comprised of seven optional demographic questions to help us assess the overall identity of our community and three questions relating to Beehaw and the Fediverse. it also asks you about 17 possible communities we are considering and whether you would actively participate in them if made.

the survey will be open for approximately a week. we'll definitely close it before July 1, so please get your responses in before that date. it'll also be locally pinned for at least the next three days or so, so please mind that. thanks!

results will also be aggregated and posted on here in a summary sometime thereafter. no ETA on that though.

Done. I want, I need the retro/vintage community. But I wanna know, what kind of content, and from which decades/centuries would go there?

[–] alyaza@beehaw.org 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

catch all for now, although given our bent i'm guessing it'd mostly be retro tech and similar

[–] retronautickz@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

Cool. I probably would use as a catch all, maybe there could be two communities: retro tech and retro media?

I can't complete this on mobile. I hit next on the first question and it wants to open some file instead of going to the next question.

Edit: I uninstalled WPS office, I assume it had some handler for Google docs.

Please don't add too much communitis.

I think that it is great that there is only few communities and I gladly comment on something (but I don't post much).

From Reddit I was used to contribute more to small specific subreddits and I think that this isn't the place for that - federation covers this need.

I personally would love to see some spirituality communities, as a trans pagan.

Hi not sure if you are aware, but this showed up on my kbin feed. I often see admin posts from other instances here.

People who arent actually on beehaw might fill it out for some reason, you know how the internet is.

I guess there is no way to limit the post visibility to only your own users.

[–] JelloBrains@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think they may have tried to account for that because just being curious I clicked to see what survey type it was, It's non-privacy respecting Google by the way, but anyway, the first question is "Do you have an account on Beehaw?" Possible answers, Yes, No, I'm waiting on Approval. I exited because I don't have an account, and even if I did, I don't like having my email account tied to surveys.

Please we need that Retro community!

[–] Syphist@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

I answered. Most of my concerns with the survey have been addressed in other comments. Regardless I hope it leads to good results.

Is Canada not a Beehaw friendly country? I could not find it on the list.

[–] Lionir@beehaw.org 4 points 1 year ago

It's on the list, it's in the top 4 options since we expected many people to be there!

[–] sparse_neuron@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

Done, looking forward to the community grow over time.
