OK, but that's the answer he gives when he doesn't know the answer. Are we sure he understands what contraception is?

This is what he says when he doesn't want to say the answer out loud, because he knows it'll look bad.

Trump has no real opinion on contraception and/or abortion, he just waits for the Heritage Foundation to tell him what to do - and we already know what they think.

The 'Tells it like it is and doesn't care what anyone thinks' candidate.

I guess they can chalk this up to having a concept of an opinion at the moment in addition to having a concept of a plan.
