Sometimes we have those little epiphanies in the shower.. sometimes they come from other places. This is a home for those epiphanies.

Nintendo had 6 years, why now? Can't have free software upstaging new hardware.

It probably sees emulators getting large enough to be competition to its product.

Maybe the Nintendo Switch successor is going to have backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch games, so during the early times after launch they're planning to lean heavily into the backwards compatibility aspect, meaning they need to make it less convenient to pirate their games. It would make sense to attack Nintendo Switch emulation if that was the case.

Switch 2 will have the hardware Switch 1 should have had and allow a lot better playability at higher TV resolutions I bet.

Emulation has always provided a better experience.

"Always" is a bit of a stretch, IMO. It's only been within about the last decade or so that we've had a 100% accurate SNES emulator. To the best of my knowledge, we still don't have 100% accurate emulation for any 5th-gen consoles or later.

How so? Citra took like 3 years to boot a game, I'd say yuzu wasn't a better experience until 2019ish when audio finally stabilized? There's no PS4 emulator offering a better experience than the hardware.

But the switch is basically solved and I assume nintendo won't change the new system significantly, to keep compatibility.

I see it as directly related to Nintendo suing Palworld for patents (yup - not copyright); as if it was trying to eliminate any sort of competition before releasing the Switch 2.

I'm totally mocking online anyone who buys that skibidi by the way.
