Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So, how’s it going?

Man that Moroccan earthquake sounds horrible. Having been through the Christchurch ones, any time there's news of a big quake now I get the heebie jeebies, and just feel so awful for the people suffering through it. Especially in countries like Morocco and Turkey, where building standards aren't good.

Also when the casualties ramp up like that things like hospital and ambulance funding really matter as well. I feel so sorry for them too.

Yeah, it's terrible. Over 1,000 dead so far 🙁

I had a really long dream about monarch butterflies last night.

I wonder if that's my brain telling me it's time to attempt to plant my butterfly seeds I got from those butterfly people on trademe?

I'd say yes. I'm already seeing Monarchs flying about the backyard. I've even seen cabbage white butterfly yesterday which seems earlier than usual. Annoying as it means their caterpillars are on the way.

Thanks for the advice. I've seen some too. I think August is the only month I don't really see a lot of them here in Northland.

Ideally I'd like to have a lot of butterfly friendly plants all year round but I'm terrible at gardening and it's not my garden, so we'll see.
