Man, sometimes the verge is awesome, this is one of those times, sometimes the verge sucks, but damn if I used to be paying for Washington Post, I'd be happy to switch to the verge.

At least the verge has the balls to utilize our first amendment right.

Fuck you bezos.

He promised RFK Jr the Secretary of Health job.

We are absolutely fucked if he wins.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 3 points 3 hours ago

I know that he gets a bad rap for being an anti-vaxxer, but follow me on this TOTALLY reasonable logic:

  • Vaccines were originally made from cowpox in cows, hence the Latin cow root
  • Vaccines were first tested on random neighborhood kids
  • Anti-vaxxers claim they're keeping kids safe
  • As a child, RFKJ spent much of his time hanging out in cow carcass piles
  • RFKJ has (barely) survived so far

Obviously RFKJ is the perfect candidate for Secretary of Health. Vote for RFKJ! Vote for cow carcass piles for every child!

\s, just in casies

Thanks for sharing this. It is a fantastic endorsement. It goes to the heart of everything wrong with the Trump Republican party in a way I haven't seen the thousands of political commentators be able to do. It's also just well written, a nice balance of reasoned journalism, humor, and outrage. This is probably the best thing I've read this election cycle.

Just as this article expressed my feelings about the election better than I've been able to, you've expressed my feelings about the article better than I've been able to.

Everything is so bizarre, just uncanny, like we're looking at the world with vertigo this election. Reading this article made me temporarily feel like I regained my balance.

There's plenty of reasons to hate on the verge, but Nilay Patel is an undeniable powerhouse. Really any feature he writes are worth a read.

Edit: this one is particularly special. What a well articulated expression of qualities modern republicans are lacking.

This is a great article. Sickened as I am hearing about this election every fucking day im also glad to see tons of endorsements from unexpected corners, it really feels like everyone's collectively seeing the drain we're swirling around and working together to stop it. God help us

I saw a dude today with two flags on the back of his f150 (of course) that said “god, guns, trump”

That’s all you need to know, really. They don’t give a shit about anything else.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago

Trump’s fascist government is far more likely to take away your guns and to pick a single flavor of religion, so good luck on it being yours.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

My theory is that first the kids will spread whopping cough. But, will that make MAGA families and RFK, the head of HHS, into an emergency inoculation drive? Noooo. Then the kids will get a round of mumps or meassles. Will that do it? Noooo. MAGA will even say it makes the kids stronger. But then, the evil virus polio will rear its ugly head and we'll be putting kids in wheel chairs for the rest of their lives. And then. Maybe then. Won't be a lot of kids in school to shoot, though. Don't let these idiots run your country.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

That sounds like a run-of-the-mill Republican administration. If that's worst case scenario we got off easy.
