A second grade teacher called 911

[–] 2ugly2live@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago

"I'd like to provide an important clarification," Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes told reporters Tuesday afternoon before a news conference on the the deadly attack at Abundant Life Christian School. Actually, "the call came from a second grade teacher."

Misleading title, still horrifyingly tragic and expected. Also, the shooter was a girl this time. I feel like that's rare. Still depressing though.

Well, he wasn't responsible for 40,000 deaths like Brian Thompson was, so obviously he's not important enough to save. /s

Anybody think we’ll do something about it this time?

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago

Were any of the kids a CEO? No? Meh…

Well arming 2nd graders is probably a good start.

You joke, but...

TL;DW: Sacha Baron Cohen in disguise convinces several current and former republican lawmakers to make a commercial endorsing the "Kinderguardians" program which seeks to arm children.

they'll find a way to blame this on gay books in the library. again

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How are there still gay books?

Havent they been burned several times over the past decades?

How do they reproduce?

You'll have to ask Mr. Gutenberg. No, not Steve.

Is that a printing press or a sex dungeon apparatus?

We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas!

[–] Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago

Absolutely not. This stupid fucking country will never change.

Something that addresses the root cause? I doubt it.

Something so it seems like something is done? Possibly.

Not sure what is already in effect in Wisconsin, but I could see politicans call for actions like armed guards/teachers, more funding for local police, or bullet proof doors and windows.

Have you tried more thoughts and prayers?

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

It was a Christian school.

Who are we to interfere with God's will?

If God wants those kids dead are you going to stand in His way?

Huh, well that's new. I don't think I've ever heard of a girl or woman go on a school or mass shooting.

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I heard a factoid about that on the NPR News Hour this morning, but I missed the exact qualifications, so I found this article from Newsweek that gives much more precise info from the FBI and The Violence Protection Project:

https://www.newsweek.com/are-female-mass-shooters-rise-what-data-shows-2001780

It's definitely rare, but has happened before.
