Do we really want an artificial meta shift? What are the main critiques of high 3pt volume offense?

From people who can't shoot them.

Think the best solution is to allow more defense on the perimeter.

Other than that think the only other thing would be moving the line out further which feels like a pretty big shift and there isn’t really a ton of room to do that in the corners.

How is it not allowed?

I'm not too knowledgeable about Xs and Os, but I've heard that teams haven't really learned how to guard the 3 line that effectively since this new offensive paradigm of basically only paint points and a ton of 3s took over (defensive strategy is lagging behind).

and there isn’t really a ton of room to do that in the corners.

No kidding. Any less room and some players' shoe sizes would be bigger than that space lol

Think bringing back some form of hand checking would help, another option is widening the courts and pushing out the line but not sure the teams will want to lose that space since that’s the space they sell at the highest price.

they need to move the 3pt line back, but that also needs to come with widening the court too.

I agree more physical perimeter D would be nice, but I'm not sure that would affect the 3pt volume issue.

Yeah good point on widening the courts but not sure the logistics of it with the seats they sell there. If it costs even 1 row of lower seats I think the owners would push back.
