I wonder if Blue states will be sort of protected like last time. Relatively protected.

I'm quickly becoming a Federalist in the sense that I just want to be left alone in my state that still has environmental protections and fuck Alabama or whoever.

[–] FundMECFSResearch@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 53 minutes ago

I started out as a centralist in 2016 and now I’m a full on anti-state autonomous rule anarchist lol.

People like trump being elected radicalised me.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 11 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Him and his supporters. It wasn't just the Capitol, it was the fake electors, the pressuring of his VP not to certify, the "find me more votes" call to governors, etc. There are no consequences for this fuck...

[–] tacosplease@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

It really solidifies our judicial system as a joke. I hope he's eaten by fears of extrajudicial remedies, but he honestly seems too stupid to understand the risk.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 hours ago

... and are refusing even now at the state level. Ohai, NC, we see you.

[–] Kalysta@lemm.ee -1 points 1 hour ago

Yeah. Peacefully handing the country and all it’s vulnerable population to fascists while the democrats all cash out and flee.

They’re gonna leave us to THEIR fate.

If you only believe that elections are "fair" when your side wins, then you don't believe in elections.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 46 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Don't worry Democrats will run Hillary in 2028, surely she'll win this time!

[–] TheFonz@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

DNC staff: if you're reading this - this is a joke. We do not in fact want Hillary Clinton to run. Please. No.

4 fears later: Oh ffs....

[–] etlaser@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Hillary Clinton won by nearly 3 million votes.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Love that democracy in action

[–] Tja@programming.dev 6 points 1 day ago

In 2028 Democrats will run Eric Trump (Don Jr for the red team).

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Please not her. Find somebody younger!

[–] r0bi@infosec.pub 12 points 1 day ago

Ah yes, we can now see she simply wasn't old enough yet

[–] Draedron@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 day ago

Cute you think there will be a free election in 2028 lol

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 175 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Ah yes, Dems adhere to longstanding norms and lose while Republicans lie, cheat, exploit, steal, and win. What a fun game.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 59 points 1 day ago (8 children)

If there is nothing in place to prevent the lieing, cheating, and stealing then you're really just putting yourself at a disadvantages by not doing it.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I didn't want my representatives to break the law. Crazy, I know. But what if there was a middle ground between doing nothing for 4 years and committing federal crimes...?

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

You mean actual work? Are you for real?

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 41 points 1 day ago

There are but the Dems refused to use them.

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

By normalizing these behaviours yhu create the moral and political framework in which your opponent thrives. Fascist dont need to win. They can just wait for "Democrats" to dismantle themselves.

Also pretending like the Democratic party isnt big on lying, cheating and stealing too, does not help either. They lost because what they pretended to be and what they really are disparged a lot. The Trumpists are honest about who they are, so they attract the same kind of people, wheras the Dems did everything to alienate people with morals.

And then the Dems turned around and attacked the minorities they pretended to want to protect from Trump, because they didnt suck up to them anymore.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Trumpists are honest about who they are

I could not disagree more. They are unashamed about their behavior but they are not honest.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 2 points 1 day ago

They already thrive, so what's the point of not doing it?

Another moral victory for Democrats. If only such victories mattered.

Imagine a tug of rope where only one side is pulling.

Well the American left wouldn't turn out to vote, what makes you think they'd try and storm the capital?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago (14 children)

America has decided to roll over and let fascism take root.

Our ancestors would be utterly ashamed.

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'm more concerned with what our descendents are going to think.

[–] sparky@lemmy.federate.cc 15 points 1 day ago

They won’t think much of anything, considering what Trump is about to do to the Department of Education.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 75 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just a reminder, since these people view everything through the lens of power they view the peaceful transfer of power as us being weak and them being strong and that we're giving in because "we know they can kick our ass" or some dumb shit. Basically, they view things like this as though we're cowering in the corner begging them to stop when it's really the basics of a functioning society.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Problem is they seem to be correct

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 68 points 1 day ago

Kamala had a chance to do the funniest thing.

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh c'mon Biden, it's not too late to have him official business'd!

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Honestly, he should push that law to its limit before trump abuses it daily.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 56 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Huh, no presentation of the gallows this time. Must be budget cuts.
