Let's face it. The mods and admins have to make decisions they don't necessarily agree with to protect the community. There are things I'd like to say that I don't for this reason, though I too have had mod action against me in the past, as well as some communication from admins (which, for the record, was always professional and kind).

That's why I post my very hottest takes on my favorite CIA honeypot, tumblr.

In one particular instance of this happening, the mods said it was against the instance rules. So drag went to the admin and asked if it was okay. The admin said promoting violence against nazis is fine as long as it isn't actually planning a crime. Drag went to the mods to say "look, you're not protecting the community, this isn't necessary", and they didn't care one bit.

Oh, I see now. It's hard for me to see everything because drag's screenshot is tiny, but I see in the modlog drag is banned from 196.

As much as I enjoy the shitposts, 196 has always been a sort of milquetoast centrist community, even on reddit. I didn't look at everything, so I can't determine for certain if drag crossed a line, but what I saw as far down as I scrolled was just normal and healthy stuff like "we should kill Nazis." That seems alright to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] dragonfucker 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Thank you. If you'd like to judge drag, drag will give you a chance: drag told a cancer patient, who was sure Trump would get him killed, and was suicidal over it, to commit Luigi. Drag said to buy a gun and make his situation a Nazi's problem instead of wallowing and wanting to die. At first he was mad because he felt he was being asked to fight others' battles, but then drag shared what drag has been doing to try and help people like him, and he calmed down. Seemed happier. No more suicidal comments.

Ada removed the comment and said it was promoting suicide. The 196 mods banned drag and said it wasn't promoting suicide, but that it was promoting violence against Nazis and that's not allowed.

I can understand the concern about the suicidal person because that's a sensitive topic that's always difficult to approach. I can't judge drag because I wasn't there.

Banning someone for encouraging violence against Nazis is suspect, though. What do they think we should do? Ask them politely to stop being Nazis? Lol

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean you can read the modlog yourself. Doesn’t say anything about Nazis or not. It says “promoting violence,” which “you should go buy a gun and use it” absolutely is lol. https://lemmy.cafe/comment/9928456

Drag is being a little disingenuous here.

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm sure you acted in good faith, but I also understand drag's point of view. Difficult thing to address for sure.

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 year ago

No I did nothing here, good faith or not haha :) just reporting what I know.

It's also quickly becoming more and more illegal to be trans, and in living memory and many places still it is illegal to be gay married.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I don’t get it. What’d the blahaj admins do?

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 21 points 1 year ago (3 children)

content warning, disturbing, violenceA comment OP made to a disabled user was removed by an admin because it was very inappropriate.

And then banned by mods because it was very inappropriate.

Instead of apologizing to the user and community like a decent person, OP makes vagueposts about it every once in a while, it would seem to manipulate public sentiment against mods literally just doing the bare minimum to maintain a space of safety and respect for their community.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’ve never seen a modlog as full as that one. It’s denser than most common histories

[–] dragonfucker 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Here are some highlights:

You should take these modlog entries as evidence that the average moderator on Lemmy disagrees with America's involvement in WWII. Also, that some Lemmy mods think neopronouns are trolling, cancer patients should definitely be forced into drama about their suicidal feelings, and that Luigi is guilty until proven innocent

[–] dragonfucker 0 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There's nothing inappropriate about telling someone to take their life into their own hands and do something about their problems rather than committing suicide. What you are doing, in decrying attempts to talk people out of suicide, is encouraging suicide. It's vile. You are trying to take away the anger and the will to action that could potentially save a terminally ill cancer patient's life. It's ableist, and it's murderous. Not to mention the fascist apologism inherent in decrying anti-fascist violence.

You have previously been told not to spread your fascist-apologising, ableist lies about drag. Ada said she spoke to you about not harassing drag anymore. Drag will be notifying her of this.

[–] spujb@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

No worries. Ada never spoke to me about anything regarding not messaging drag, drag must be mistaken?

content warning, discussion of suicide and dealing sensitively with ideation

According to the Harvard Center for Health Communication:

While talking about suicide doesn’t increase risk, you should limit specific details about methods used in suicide, since sharing these is known to increase deaths by suicide.

There is no “cheat code” that makes encouraging to suicide okay, not even bringing in politics. One should always take care in how one interacts with suicidal ideation in others. I have seen no one but drag and drag’s alts indicate that drag’s behavior was appropriate for any community, which should indicate to drag that there is room for growth and apologies rather than doubling down on the same behavior.

Please take care.

While talking about suicide doesn’t increase risk, you should limit specific details about methods used in suicide, since sharing these is known to increase deaths by suicide.

When drag was suicidal, many years ago, drag did drag's research on methods of suicide. It turns out, most of them are very unethical. They leave behind messy crime scenes which can traumatise other people. Suicide by train is especially awful. Train drivers have a higher rate of mental illness because they see so many suicides. Pills are the least "messy" method, but they have a very high failure rate, and failures can involve permanent disability such as brain damage. So drag kept reading, and drag decided suicide by falling was the best way to go. Fortunately, drag didn't have easy access to any high enough places, and drag's research delayed drag's attempt long enough for the worst of the feelings to pass. A couple years later, drag transitioned, and has never felt so hopeless again.

Drag is intimately familiar with the mindset of a suicidal person, of that person on that day. You are clearly not, because you haven't taken the time to understand anyone else's point of view about this.

Drag would never incite anyone to suicide, and as you can see in that screenshot, drag didn't that day. But what drag did do, is delay. The same way drag was delayed by that research on the ethics of suicide. Drag gave that person a plan, a productive plan. Not a hopeful plan, because they were not in a mindset to receive hope. But a plan that they could see the value of in their state of mind. A revenge plan. A plan other than suicide. And having a plan other than killing yourself today is a lifesaving thing. Drag doesn't know if you'll ever be able to understand that. And since you haven't understood it in the past weeks of harassment, fuck off and leave drag alone.

[–] ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 year ago

I told drag I would have a word, as at the time, I incorrectly believed spujb had a blahaj account. I was going to advise them to block you drag. However, spujb isn’t on blahaj, so this isn’t something that involves me or other blahaj staff.

Notably, I haven’t given drag permission to share our DMs

[–] Comment105@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh my fucking god it's Drag the fucking scalie again.

[–] dragonfucker 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

A few minutes ago you left this reply for drag in another community. Can you confirm these are your words?

transphobia, furry hate, kinphobia

I’m not being flippant about this. I’m genuinely quite certain that the impact this kind of extremely liberal and wide reaching interpretation of gender had on the LGBTQ topic was extremely negative and directly caused the general public to have significantly less understanding and empathy for the cause, starting a little over 10 years ago when the internet was hit with the gender chart, furries, and that girl who was interviewed about pretending to be a wolf. It was so effective at destroying LGBTQ support and momentum that it might as well have been a Christian Fundamentalist psy-op.

[–] Comment105@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kinphobia and furry hate, sure. But that's not transphobia.

[–] dragonfucker 1 points 1 year ago

Did you say it? Do you stand by it?

[–] HonouraryDragon -2 points 1 year ago

What you present is one, singular, highly-opinionated and non-objective take on events.

[–] dragonfucker -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Nothing. Blahaj has good admins for the most part.

EDIT: Come to think of it, Ada could have foreseen that one particular modlog entry would have incited someone like one particular individual in this thread to continued harassment over weeks, and worded that particular action more diplomatically. Drag is somewhat disappointed over the pain caused as a result of that mistake. But drag fully believes it wasn't intended to cause harm, and has no ill will over it. This post isn't about that at all, it's about some moderator decisions on various communities that were made 3 days ago, 3 weeks ago, and some approximate 3 months ago.
