I have similar health issues with an autoimmune disease. Colds turn into respiratory infections everytime and I'm always admitted to hospital. It's sucks so I understand your pain. I know this doesn't help but a stranger on the internet is pulling for ya to get better quick.

Thank you so much. I'm so sorry you also struggle with autoimmune stuff. It's crazy how a body can just attack itself
Thanks it's not all bad I have had a few surgeries to remove lymph nodes and I got a cool scar out of it. Makes me look like a bond villain Lol I always try to take the good out of the bad every chance is get. I will say the only down side of lemmy is the lack of support group boards like reddit had. It was always nice to talk to people with similar experiences.
Cool scars are always dope as hell. I have quite a few, myself. None make me seem like a villain tho lol. Lemmy definitely needs more support groups, but I am far too busy to create and moderate one myself. I do have to say that Lemmy has grown a LOT since I joined in 2022. I joined in the reddit blackout exodus and it's been worth it. Hopefully more growth will lead to more supportive spaces for folks who need it
Yeah me too if nothing else I tag people on here if nothing else maybe find a few penpals.
I can suppress my immune response with exercise with most illnesses. If I get full blown sick the inflammation is beyond words level of pain. My chronic spinal injuries are already near my max pain thresholds 24/7 and well beyond a fractured scapula or broken ribs which I have had since my broken neck and back. I never feel like I can or should be riding a bike, especially when I'm feeling sick.
My old boss and kinda coach when I worked for the a chain of bike shops used to say that the only time to stop riding (training) is from stomach issues that get worse on the bike. I still go quite easy and listen to my body.
My folks got the flu bad about a month ago. I came down with it. I could feel that I wasn't at my full strength and ached a lot. I felt awful when I woke up and sickest around when I went to bed, but by riding my PT routine I never hit the worst lows where I can't get out of bed or walk at all.
Coming down with something is no time to start a routine, but if one is established it can really help a lot around half of the time. The last time I got full blown sick was 2019.
Exercise when you're sick is a great way to get long covid or long flu. You're just incredibly lucky. So far.
That's rough buddy, get well soon. And thanks for posting. Not that I feel great today, but I'm not sick, so I appreciate the reminder to not take that for granted.
Thank you very much. I hope you don't get ill anytime soon!
I'm so sorry you have dealt with the ailments you have. My exercise routine is taking care of, training, and riding horses. Being around all the dust they produce will 100% make my sickness worse. I pushed myself to go do stuff with the critters on Friday and I think getting so much dust in my sinuses is what solidified my illness. Hopefully I get better before I'm supposed to ride next
