Hello there, r/Welly refugee here. I like computers, open-source software (I run Arch and Fedora), video games (PC, PS5, Switch, XCloud), retro gaming, mechanical keyboards, retro computing, anime, books/manga/manhua/manhwa, food, cooking (plant based), karaoke and music (mostly into EDM/Electronica, but I listen to pretty much anything good).
what games are you playing at the moment?
Tears of the kingdom on the Switch, and on PC I'm playing Diablo 4 and Project Diablo 2. I still have a God of War game in progress on the PS5 but that's on hold until I get bored of D4/TotK lol.

Hey everyone, You might recognise me from /r/Wellington. I try my best to be nice and level-headed. I like to think of the subreddit (and whatever the equivalents are called here) as the local watering hole where we all know each other and try our best to get along.
I mostly lurk on r/welly and I'm testing the waters of Lemmy in case Reddit shoots itself in the foot.
Over 90% of my reddit access is through a 3rd party app so it's looking a bit bleak anyway.

Hi everyone,
For work I do web development (python, php, js) and I'm also into travel, photography, nature, psychology. I lived in Wellington for 15 years but these days am in the south Island mostly.
Thinking about making a Lemmy / Kbin theme.
Hopefully people are nicer to me on here than they were on the reddit.
On the Wellington sub too? They were always pretty awesome to me.
They were just awful to me.
What did you do or say to upset them. That sub can be pretty twitchy sometimes and one wrong word will get you hammered.
I don't know. No sense of humor in general.
I mean, you must have a glimmer, right? Like, there'd be replies to a specific comment you made.
I think one time some girl said she was looking for a dating site, and I said I'm available. Got decimated with downvotes. One time I commented on how annoying it is everybody walking 4 abreast across the sidewalk. Got hammered. It's like you give a kiwi a mouse and internet connection, and they lose their mind. Get on their high horses and forget what a sense of humour is.
I guess we're just not properly able to appreciate the depths of your genius.
It could be that geniuses with underappreciated comments get randomly downvoted. Or it could be that there are some really think-skinned, oversensitive kiwis that haunt these message boards. You tell me which is more likely.
