I haven't kept up on the research but years ago I was at a conference and a marine biologist was talking about ocean acidification. How the rising levels of CO2 are mixing with the water creating carbonic acid. This has a higher temperature coefficient than water leading to it retaining its heat much longer through the ocean belt. Also destroying microorganism diversity. I wonder if that leads to what they're studying here.
