Announcement to all hacking groups: Quit threatening first and just open the damn fire hose already.

[-] Chocrates@lemmy.world 60 points 1 year ago

They said they want to sell them. We may never see them.

[-] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 54 points 1 year ago

It's a digital file, if they were smart they would sell it as many times as possible, in a short of space of time as possible, then leak it anyway. Unless they can get a really good blackmail deal out of it, then probably sell it anyway

[-] Chocrates@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

For sure, lots of stuff can happen. I guess I was just tempering my expectations. Iran probably wants to use it. If it can destabilize the US then I'm sure they will release it, but if they get more from it from keeping it hidden, I would bet they do that.

This group is trying to make money. IMHO see how much they can get then dump it all.

Edit: they're suspected of being Iranian. Not that I think this regime could spell the word attribution but if they are this is political capital.

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 85 points 1 year ago

Yeah? And?

Nothing will happen. He's a dictator, surrounded by loyalists and with a secret police.

There are too many headlines where the first half is exciting.

Trump hit by bombshell

Iranian leader slaps trump

[-] just_another_person@lemmy.world 43 points 1 year ago

Oh God let them release it.

[-] ramble81@lemmy.zip 35 points 1 year ago

If a hacker can do it, you can damn well bet multiple nation-states are just chilling in the systems slurping everything up.

[-] PaulBunyan@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

And they are smart enough to not let anyone know they’re drinking all that stolen info in

[-] Nasan@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Your run of the mill APT prefers powdered form that they can mix into their beverage of choice.

[-] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 year ago

hackers who can't spell, you mean. What about someone with attention to detail?

[-] matlag@sh.itjust.works 35 points 1 year ago

What could they possiply contain that may harm him and we've not heard yet?

He's an idiot? Corruption? Sexual assault? Dictator's dreams? Nazi ideas?

At this stage, there is nothing that could deterr his cult, and he already doesn't care about his perception out of the cult.

Two situations tank a politician:

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/eight-quotes-by-about-former-louisiana-gov-edwin-edwards-2021-07-12/

"During a successful election campaign for governor in 1983, he boasted, "The only way I can lose this election is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.""

[-] Dentzy@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

So... A dead boy would have been OK? 🤔

Fucking call me when it’s an actual bombshell so I know who to nominate for the Nobel peace prize.

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

Iran, if you're listening....

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

Go on Elon, just another line of ket and you'll get your revenge

Threat From Hackers Who Stole His Aides’ Emails

😞

[-] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 20 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Someone should setup a Gofundme so We The People can pay the hackers to release the goodies. Criminals though they are, they're probably less terrible human beings than the orange utan in the White House or any of his henchmen. I'd pitch in...

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 16 points 1 year ago

I wish but these groups almost never release the information. They get paid or caught. :(

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 1 year ago

The threat:

[-] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

It doesn’t matter what they find or stole from his emails. They could have videos, photos and testimony directly from Trump at Epstein Island and his supporters would still say it is taken out of contact and still vote for him.

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Was one of the hackers Big Balls?

[-] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago
[-] mintiefresh@piefed.ca 3 points 1 year ago

It doesn't matter lol
