Really doubling down on that, "he actually is the antichrist" thing.

[-] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 104 points 1 year ago

They have think-tanks dedicated to coming up with the worst decisions possible, for real.

[-] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 48 points 1 year ago

I don't doubt it, Trump is a Russian Psyop placed in power with the singular goal of incapacitating the United States by sowing chaos.

Onion?

checks community name...

Sigh...

[-] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 120 points 1 year ago

Might as well. It was originally called that, and the DoD name was always kind of a lame coat of off-white landlord paint.

[-] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 79 points 1 year ago

Yeah but it's the death of a euphemism. It was good that they had to use a euphemism.

[-] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 26 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'll bite. How is that?

Edit: I watched the death of a euphemism video and understand your point now. My original comment was less of a serious assertion and more voicing my general disdain for the idea of crossing out "War," writing "Defense," and continuing to invade countries for decades anyway.

[-] EvilBit@lemmy.world 56 points 1 year ago

Euphemisms at least indicate shame.

The Peace President ✝️

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 92 points 1 year ago

Lmfao finally something I'm glad he's doing!

The name change was fucking psychological manipulation for the population. You can't argue against defense department spending as easily as you can argue against war department spending.

Bring it on! Make our jobs easier you bumbling brainrotted doughnut dictator.

It's like a 10 year old boy is leading America

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 38 points 1 year ago

A 10 year old boy who is also a felon, a rapist, and fucks 10 year old girls, while letting other 10 year old boys dictate policy while he golfs and rapes people.

If we're honest, this new name more accurately describes the American military than the word defense does

[-] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 1 year ago

It actually used to be called "Department of War". It changed in 1947, which was actually right around the time when the United States went full worldwide imperialism (though there were signs well before then).

I'm so glad President Trump is focused on the important issues, like renaming bodies of water, mountains, schools, and federal institutions. I didn't need lower grocery prices anyway.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 46 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Good.

It should be. At any point in time the US is involved in 5-10 wars since Obama.

Calling it the Dept. of War is honest.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago

more fitting tbh.

This is so sad

Also, I think the entire world may need to prepare themselves for invasion.

I seriously hope that Europe and Canada are preparing because this shit stain will start playing the land grab game soon

Broken clocks and all that, fantastic change. No longer can people hide behind the euphemism.

Hey hey look over here! Stop focusing on how Trump paid for trafficking children for sex. Hey hey look over here!

I mean, that's definitely a more honest name, how much of what they do is actually "defense" vs just imperialism

[-] perviouslyiner@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Sounds expensive. How much does it normally cost to rebrand an organisation of this size?

(and that's without needing to rewrite references to it in any legislation!)

[-] NuXCOM_90Percent@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 year ago

I mean...we've been fucking the world up since Korea and Vietnam. Arguably also WW1 (2 we sort of had an excuse because of Japan). And South America before that.

In theory it is the idea that we minimize harm to the heartland by engaging threats/"threats" before they burn down the white house again (mad props to Canada).

But nah. This is just the republicans continuing to be fucking morons. Like when perry (?) campaigned on killing the DOEnergy, got appointed as head, and realized that there were nukes next to all that clean coal.

president epstein, trying to do anything to not talk about himself. constant threat of tariffs since hes been doing for a while isnt working, he moved onto the troops in LA strategy, followed by faking "health issues", and insulting people. hes going to keep recycling this until people get tired of it go back to talking about the files.
