Because it’s state politics in Iowa, which, while meaningful, isn’t going to hugely impact people outside of Iowa.
Well, the Des Moines Register certainly is.
It's the state Senate, not the US Senate, so most people will never hear about it unless they actually read the local news. Major events happen locally that actually have an immediate impact on your life and I'll mention it to someone and usually they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Because this merely goes from supermajority to simple majority, which isn't that meaningful since the governor is a republican.
Because they are part of the problem. A corporate, for-profit media system is antithetical to truth and freedom.
But they are talking about it
And this is why the GOP is trying to gerrymander the hell out of everything. They know they will lose if they don’t cheat.
Iowa has an independent redistricting board, but I wouldn't be shocked if Republicans saw the writing on the wall and did everything in their power to neutralize or destroy it.
Hoping Joni Ernst gets the boot in the future. She is a sad sack and voted to harm her state.
GOP: "Now where did I put those maps. I know they're around here somewhere. You can never find them when you need them, am I right?"
This is a deceptive title, should clearly state STATE Senate.
"Loses Supermajority"
"Governor ... [R]"
Yeeeaahh... maybe don't celebrate too much, no meaningful veto were happening anyways
