Wasn't it crazy 'ol Eldrich who started the goths not being goths thing? I would hardly count his opinions as law other artists have to follow.... Actually perhaps Bowie was poking fun of exactly that. π€
The most stereotypically goth people I've ever met denied it and said they had no idea why people kept calling them goth. It was rather silly.
