Its a shame to see the game become a cardboard funkopop competitor.

For real this is really killing my interest in the game as a whole.

Don't forget about the next Secret Lairs. "PlayStation", and... "The Office". No joke.

Thanks for the idea, made it into one image.

I JUST started playing Magic this year, and already I’m like, “can you guys calm down?”

I still feel like I’m barely getting into Edge of Eternities.

It’s already too much shit to think about.

I am too. I was already looking to close my game shop in December, but this seals it for me. I have my building lease until the end of March, so I likely will do a small Lorwyn prerelease and then end it. I am a small 1 person shop I cannot keep up with this, my customers cannot keep up with this.

If the playerbase is in the same boat, have you tried to offer them to try to play something like in-universe standard?

If there would be a format where there would be 0 incentives to play UB, people would have no reason to buy UB.

This is absolutely mental and it's very clear to me that I'm just taking a long time off from this game. Unreal.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

So we arent doing 1 in 1 out of universe anymore? As soon as we get that marvel set its Magic the Cameo forever?

[–] Rampsquatch@sh.itjust.works 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Are all seven of these sets going to be in standard?

Absolutely bonkers.

[–] Mika@piefed.ca 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Anyone still playing standard?

I feel like commander and pauper are the only 2 formats doing good.

[–] Rampsquatch@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

There are and they all play izzet cauldron.

[–] MysticKetchup@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Weird that there's an unannounced UB for March but the Hobbit and Star Trek later in the year have already been announced.

Getting the same vibes I get when I see COD7. Maybe it's not for me anymore. Not because I don't like the game, but all that collaborations makes it lose their own identity, and I'm losing interest to see all the crossovers.

Corss over can be nice. If it fits the same setting.

[–] Caveman@piefed.social 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Curious what Reailty Fracture is going to be - maybe a crossover set?

[–] lovestha@mtgjudge.social 4 points 10 months ago

@Caveman Conclusion of current story arc.

[–] UnPassive@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

As a drafter, I hate having so many sets. Feels like I barely get to experience/learn a set before the next one comes out
