I had a "wall mounted" monitor where the wall mount was it hanging off a screw in the wall via a loop of fishing line I found on the beach. It hung like that happily for five years until I sold the apartment.
EDIT: It held the monitor up by weaving the fishing line loop through the plastic vent grill in the back of the monitor.

To be frank, I’ll never get the appeal of turning your laptop into a desktop/monitor. Just hook it up to actual monitor…
Not everyone can afford or has the space to have both, and portability becomes the key factor. Easy to grab this laptop as desktop throw it in a bag and go. Can't really do that with a desktop.
If you can afford a gaming laptop, you can afford a 100 dollar monitor
1080p 22" monitors are $5 at a thrift store.
I seriously can't afford one tho, I mean I can but it has to be the same image quality or better than my laptop screen and a decent'ish monitor is quite expensive where I live (120$ or more)
Different issue, but relevant to me: my laptop’s internal display is much better than most monitors that wouldn’t break the bank.
So using its display makes sense to me.
I don't have anything to complain about here. I love the way you have the laptop on a shelf.
If you are concerned about the portable monitor mount, you could add a tablet arm mount that clamps to the desk. I'm guessing you are comfortable with it, but there are options if you are looking.
I thought of getting one but I'm afraid it's too bulky and didn't work too well with my limited space
This problem is perfect for 3D printing. Just measure the mounting hole locations and print out a simple stand. Use something that isn't PLA as the material though due to its tendency to warp when heat is applied under a physical load.

Hey, that's the same keyboard I have, or at least had until recently.
What happens to it?
Nothing, I still have it and it still functioned last time I used it, but I decided I wanted to try out a few wireless keyboards.
However, my last two systems have had issues with Bluetooth. I thought it was a hardware issue (my previous desktop went through a few storms), but since the problem has persisted between two desktops, it seems like a Fedora problem. My laptop also runs Fedora, though, and has no Bluetooth issues (though I haven't tried with these keyboards). Maybe it's a problem with a particular adapter that both desktops happened to use.
