II think Reddit was a great idea initially. It was a very nice forum aggregator essentially. It has years of niche and specific information easily searchable and easily accessible. From car parts to tech issues to fountain pens and more. It was a place for everyone and anyone.

But, then the suits got in and kicked off the enshittification.

Well I hope they read it! Very well written, it's nice that you don't suggest them to change or whatever, you just want to leave (as if they would change anything to begin with, right?)

They really are doubling down on their decision.

I hope the subreddits remain private moving forward.

But seems like some of them have gone public again. At least those I subscribed to. Not all of them but many did. A shame really!

I think the best solution is for some of the subs to come back online but remain locked. Sadly, there is a ton of tech information that can help people solve problems. But honestly it does not matter, Reddit will force them open at some point.

At least people have started to us Lemmy.

yes exactly! It's nice to see that some people actually care enough to move over here and start a new community. Didn't think this would grow so fast tbh, but it's welcoming to see. And for whatever Reddit does, maybe it gets back to normal someday, but I highly doubt it.

I think it’s best that people move on to these decentralized platforms. There are a number of reasons, but the biggest for me is that not any one person can control it.

Exactly. Like knowing that Reddit will probably take over those Subreddits sooner or later… kinda scary
