If it was me I would try re-seating the display cable. That happened to me once after replacing a battery. Might not work so if you do try it, be prepared to do the work of cleaning and re-applying screen adhesive for nothing.

Did you try smacking the side of it with an open palm really hard?!? Always seems to work in old movies & TV shows.

It's most likely a bad connector on the screen itself.
Replace the screen, it'll be fine.
Thanks for the suggestion. It's not so cheap around here, but still worth if I can be sure not be something more serious
