Overall I liked this season more than season 1. I wasn't sure after watching season 1 if this season would work since I think season 1 ended fairly weak, except for Xavier's story, and I feel the same again.

First, I don't care about the bunker people plot. We're murdering people and no one really seems to care. I think Sinatra as a character is interesting, but if she's dead now that's fine by me.

Second, Xavier's story is excellent. It is ridiculous, but excellent. I'm guessing the reveal in season 3 will be that all his unlikely adventures were planned by our Alex supercomputer. Link meets a guy who traveled across the post apocalyptic United States, found his baby momma, has his baby, and then traveled all the way back to Colorado just to reveal the baby. There is a 0% chance of that happening.

Third, I don't recall any hints in season 1 that this show was going into sci-fi and time travel. So the season 2 reveal feels like a huge shift. I'm in, but it just feels like a huge shift.

You know, I've noticed some pretty heavy genre shifts. I'm not against them, but they can sometimes be quite jarring. Westworld was pretty jarring. Some less so, like Dark (which I didn't mind at all) or maybe Lost. I don't think it's inherently bad, I think it can be disappointing sometimes when you expect it to be one way and then it shifts hard.

Honestly, when Alex was revealed, I was disappointed. I really live scifi, but some tropes are tiring and overused. I'm really really really hoping this AI is actually benevolent because I'm exhausted by the malevolent super computers...

Great season overall. I hope it's only a 3 season show. maybe they can make it 4 seasons, but I feel anything more than that will ruin what is a pretty well written and executed show.

I was a little bit disappointed with the finale however. The time wasting really annoyed me- the elevator rescue, and then the control tower really had me going "what the fuck".

Also Jane's survival. I'd have to go back, but it looked like there was blood on the bathroom floor like Jane dragged herself out of the shower which would be stupid - especially as it appears she somehow got out of the bunker too.

I really like well rounded shows that actually finish strong. So 3 seasons would be great.

The elevator scene was annoying for the time waste. Seriously, stop hugging her. Move! But it (or something similar) was necessary so that Dylan, his mom, and X would connect. So I get it.

I knew they would try to bring Jane back into things. The gun was in the ground. I told my partner that if Gabriela doesn't pick it up now and make sure she is dead, then Jane will be back. Ugh.

I'm sure Alex has a reason for Jane, but I really dislike her character.
