At least the designated barefoot paths are risk-free, but maybe also try taking a few barefoot steps through a lush pine forest or so.

There are special barefoot paths were l live that have segments prepared to experience many often strange underground types.
From cork over all kind of stones, sand, mud, pinecones to really mind-screwing stuff like broken glass (specially prepared to not cut).
But they are usually less than a km in length.
Walking multi day trails is a whole other story...
You'll feel soooo primal when you're at the doctor's office, trying to explain how you got hookworm, strongyloides, Lyme disease, and chiggers on a single hike.
