It would have been my sister's birthday today. I am going to go out and have some sashimi in the sun

because I need to say this but it doesn't need readingFuck cancer. I miss you every day. The world misses you. You'd be proud of your kids - they are such beautiful humans. I can't believe I am about to turn the age you were when it happened. I'm scared. I miss you.

Well that's the purge done.

Only in the last 3 years has this happened.

I get down here, first night crash early, second night wild restlessness, fever dreams / sweats, it's like I've eaten something wrong running to the loo several times, third night all gone, good sleep and everything is back to normal.

Weird. Only happens when there's no one here, no stress, same diet. It's like a weight is lifted, body spazzes out for a day or two then it just stops. Every time.

Missed bros b'day dinner on fri. Very much a tradition, ol' boy always books a restaurant and it's frowned upon if you miss one. This was basically "fuck it I need the purge" don't care who sulks.

Called the p's last night expecting the sulk. Nothing. Was speaking to ol' girl and she was not impressed with bro (arrogant, speaking over). She's a bit more honest about some things in her mental state. Think ol' boy sees that now too. Have been accused many times of driving a wedge in the family by avoiding bro/sil. Not any more though. Finally put to rest (which is a relief, was second guessing myself way too long w/ that).

Sort of a 4 in 1 win. Purge, no shitty dinner, no sulk, now no perceived wedge driving. All I had to do was nothing for 3 days. Amazing.

SIL's family are here on tues. (15 of them) to see her baby for the first time so that is a dinner I'm happy to go to (they're good fun and it'll be nice to see them meet the new addition).

Anyway this morning's sunrise:

with a relevant rave choon

Could be stress hitting you when you get a minute to yourself. Great news about how it turned out though

The Purge! I call it "The Clean Out". I name the stages. The first one is Jesus Christ the second one is how is there anything left? the third is all show and no punch. Love a good clean out.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

Oh that's so good. Love a good purge.

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Don't tell your nonna I'm eating several-days-old pesto on this pasta. The staleness is punishment enough.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Also don't tell her about the grated carrot in my non-bolognese sauce

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Tell her about the cream and prawns I put in 'carbonara' the other day. I won't win but keen to be demolished.

My first thought about the Correspondents Dinner thing is that they faked it....that feels wrong and depressing.

[–] Pilk@aussie.zone 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

My only thought is I simply don't give a fuck unless someone actually lands the shot

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 3 months ago

I hate him so much but the whole government is just as bad

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

All those people and all those guns and narry a decent shot among 'em.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

my thought too

I was also thinking about the boy who cried wolf

also, no one but his cult members cares

things is, I bet there are loads of attempts, guy is such a bastard half the world wants him dead

also, what happened to marine snipers, are they out of nutcases or practice

Potato from the cookers house YL is staying at.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I'm impressed by the onion powder for scale too.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah that made me laugh.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

They're obviously not cooking potatoes.

Day 3 or maybe 4 of The Snottening, its a bit hard to tell. Feeling a bit better this morning. I think the nice weather is helping. The hanky tsunami is washed and hanging on the line, much to the dismay of the local maggies who are pretending to be scared of the flapping cloth. They demanded rolled oats reparations for the insult of flappy clothy bits hanging on their personal perching line.

I’m going for a belated market run. Does anyone want anything?

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

Gourmet sausages, mandarins, and some kind of indulgent pastry.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Some hard crusty bread please. If it ricochets off the wall when you kick it, even better.

Being told I can’t send or receive email because Onedrive is full and being leaned on to upgrade…

I already copied all the files over to a separate folder previously but just to be sure I did it again so I can drag that one onto a hard drive. Deleted some old recordings and photos I had backups of from Onedrive to free up storage, and unlinked the pc.

I don’t like how everything is a subscription model and in the cloud now. I really need to get the rest of my stuff out of cloud onto my computer and then onto separate physical storage.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

We use google at work but I have needed to subscribe to Microsoft for word/OneDrive for a specific job and can confirm it is a stinking pile of poo. Google also but less buggy. I miss when we could buy and own stuff

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

It makes everything so unnecessarily complicated :(

[–] jarrydac@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I had a computer that was getting old, so I've been playing around with using it as a home server setup. I have it running backups, which is quite reassuring.

Fucked up you can't send email because of it. I think Microsoft defaults to putting all your files in onedrive but your computer will have way more storage than the free version. With a bit of copy/paste and rerouting directories for documents and downloads you should be able to free that up

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago

Okay I think I've jacked upy sleep pattern again. Shiiiet. Time to coffee myself up and stay up all day, and reset my sleep tonight.

Or look for night shift jobs loooool

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

I was planning my day around my dentist appointment, starting to calculate the details of when I need to be ready and how long it will take to get there - then realised it is actually Sunday today and the appointment is tomorrow 🀣

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

The Snot she has arrived. And the dishwasher has ants.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

"Do you want ants? Because that's how you get ants."

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago

Strangely, I would in fact rather not have ants and am now boiling the little bastards

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

the coughing has stopped

not so tired

but still a bit congested and headachy around the face area

can't wait to be better

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That cough virus is brutal. Glad you are coming out of it. Nice day to get some sun into you.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

2 weeks!

I wonder if it's taking so long to recover because I'm older now 😟

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

Possibly. I also think that we tend to actually acknowledge and respect being sick more as we get older.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (3 children)

It seems like the kids' laptop has developed a very spicy pillow. To the extent I can't open the case to look at it. I'm hoping I can pry this thing open because whilst it's from 2012 I'd rather save it from becoming ewaste. I just put Wacky Wheels on this thing for them!

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah nah. Save anything useful and time to thank it for its service send it to e-waste heaven.

so Miss Seagoon is having a game afternoon, we are playing gloomhaven

reminds me of monopoly , with all the cards and such

I feel bad but this game , I just don't care

it's not my jam, I like simple games that require me to think up a strategy

not a complicated game that gives me strategies

no one can give me the aim of the game πŸ™„ I assume it's world domination

I'd like to make some nacho cheese again but I'm not in the mood to grate 250g of cheese. Is there any way to get close by cutting it up or using a different technique? I'm thinking maybe a potato peeler?

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

not in the mood to grate 250g of cheese

Bruh that takes a minute if that.

Calm down Battery-San!

But seriously, it's impressive a battery from 2011 lasted so long. I should have taken it out when it stopped holding charge instead of leaving it in hoping for the best
