Them being racist hasn't exactly been a secret for quite some time, but they still get fools voting for them by blaming the completely rudderless Democratic party for every other problem they can. Those voters are really manipulated because the simple self-righteous messaging Republicans use blaming Dems for everything wrong in people's lives is MUCH easier to grasp than the complexities behind the truth of how things actually are. The establishment Dems are too much in the pockets of the 1% to care enough to put up much of a right against it.

The consolidation is part of a broader GOP effort during the ongoing legislative session to overhaul the judiciary in New Orleans — including bills that propose abolishing several other elected judicial positions in the parish. However, those jobs would be eliminated further down the line, allowing officials to serve out their terms.
