The ATF has slowly been redefining who can own a gun and the government is starting to pull the rug. They've also proposed requiring you to put your birth assigned sex on the paperwork, so if you are trans and have ids matching your gender you'll be required to lie on the form to buy your guns.

The fact that they're taking these steps prove to me that they think armed leftists and minorities are genuinely the only thing that can stop them now. I sense the US entering the cool zone

The one thing that gets Republicans to support gun control is black folks with guns.

NOW you're on the trolley!

[-] AHemlocksLie@lemmy.zip -1 points 3 months ago

Shit, those two are conservatives, even, from the party that LOVES their guns.

2A is your permit. Sue the city.

[-] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 50 points 3 months ago

Exactly city has no authority to revoke your 2A rights.

[-] mattyroses@lemmy.today 23 points 3 months ago

The cops will shoot you if you don't comply. That's where the authority comes from.

Cops have better weapons. Their only disadvantage is there are less of them and they are cowards. Their 2 major disadvantages are there are less of them, they are cowards and they are all out of shape. Their 3 major disadvantages are ... I'll come back in again.

[-] Semester3383@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Get better weapons then.

You don't need automatic weapons to be effective; outside of small-unit tactics, they're not super useful in the first place. And I'll betcha that my AR-10 and AR-15 are better than what cops get issued, because I set mine up for long range precision and competition specifically.

Don't lie to yourself about this. Never underestimate your enemy.

Cops also have the advantage of almost always being able to dictate the terms of engagement. They don't come for you when you're in your house, ready to repel them. They get you in your car on the freeway, or at your job when you can't be safe, and when you don't have the numbers behind you.

I'm not as much of a gun proponent on individual ownership grounds but this clearly seems like the well regulated militia as a bulwark against tyranny that the founders were talking about.

[-] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 25 points 3 months ago

If you need a permit it was never a right. arm up

[-] anon6789@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

Anyone got info on the Jan 31 incident that is the origin of this? I couldn't find anything, just an earlier shouting match between the cops and Lions.

Typically, open carry is legal in all of Pennsylvania except Philadelphia, where you need a carry license to open carry. Usually the Philly-only gun laws get overturned rather quickly, but this seems to have remained in place for 20 years with few legal challenges.

Dunno why the ATF was brought into the original comments, as this seems to be a city and/or state issue. Feds don't look to be involved here.

[-] altphoto@lemmy.today 8 points 3 months ago

The world is going crazy.... We must defend and protect ourselves because the finest people who were supposed to be doing that are basically evil goons....hmmm you guys over there, hand over your license. Yeah sorry, but ya're not allowed to ya know, defend. Alright, han'em over. Go on, gettarehere!

To reload drop the magazine, rack the slide to clear any stuck rounds, and insert a fresh magazine.

As a 2A supporter living in a far left state I am constantly reminded, "The people voted for these officials who made these laws."

[-] scutiger@lemmy.world 12 points 3 months ago

You only really get to vote for whoever is running. I mean you can often write in a vote, but you're not going to elect a write-in.

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 3 points 3 months ago

I'm gonna be real here. who the heck hears black panther type group and thinks Trump voters they deserve it.

[-] YoureHotCupCake@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

We are talking about Americans, their level of stupid is unimaginable.

[-] Eldritch@piefed.world 1 points 3 months ago

Eeeh we aren't all that unique or exceptional. Despite what the propaganda says. But our education systems are certainly lacking when it comes to teaching anything, any history involving labor or minorities.
