What's the method named? Something about casting
This is blow molding, more common for soda bottles. Closed-top boats like kayaks are typically rotomolded instead.
Rotomolded?
Squirt some liquid hot plastic into a closed mold and rotate it to coat the inside while it cools.
How do you control for thickness there?
Likely amount of liquid and amount of rotation.
Transmutation, probably.
Thought it might be conjuration at first, but that's creating stuff from nothing rather than reshaping matter..

Definitely transmutation.
I'd rather it be done via thaumaturgy with a blind, wizened master sitting nearby shaping a tiny version as his family has done for centuries.
