The last time something of this magnitude hit the world there was a record famine and mass death in India, and the monsoons were mostly or completely dry (depending on where) for 3 years afterwards. That's why people are joking about it being the last cool summer for 5-6 years... It's just going to be hotter and drier...
Other areas are going to get hammered with rain. I live in Canada and the prairies of Alberta and foothills east of the Canadian Rockies got hammered with record rain that's drowning crops. They got an entire year's rainfall in 1 month.
