Also, tried?! I use the Force to open those little gates in supermarkes all the time.

[–] recentSlinky@lemmy.ca 20 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh it's you doing it? My dad lied to me saying it's electronics system. Thanks for your service :)

[–] Klear@piefed.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

Dads make up the silliest things.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

Stand on one hand and lift rocks with your special gift

[–] camembear@sopuli.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

I carry people up the stairs daily. I lift parking barriers with just a swipe. I successfully pushed a cloud out of the way. I also control the flow of water from a garden hose. My force grip is too strong.

[–] xSikes@feddit.online 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Exactly. At least every time there’s an automatic door.

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

They're called forcefields, did they teach you nothing?

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I want to upvote this multiple times

[–] WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Nah, there's no such thing as The Force - I used telekinesis.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Me too. It featured heavily in the science fiction pulp novels I read before Star Wars even came out. And now get off my lawn, damn kids!

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 17 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Exactly. Got to it before me. Well done.

[–] FrChazzz@lemmus.org 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Here's the deal: given enough time, it WILL work! I've tried it! See, what I do is I reach my hand out toward the remote and close my eyes and stay there. Sometimes it comes quickly, other times it takes several minutes. But the remote always winds up in my hand.

Sure, it's because either my wife or one of my kids has intuited what I'm trying to do and they walk it over to me. But, hey, I'm still getting the remote to my hand regardless!

LPT: If you focus your channeling into a chant - it can happen even faster

Tutorial

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

how the fuck y'all moving objects without applying force to them?

[–] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It's simple. Been doing it for years. I just put my hand out reaching for the item and eventually my wife or daughter hands it to me.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Admit it? There's not a single commenter here who isn't proud of the effort they put in. I feel like I came pretty close to success myself.

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My guy I made myself pass out trying to go super saiyan. Of course I've tried using the force

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

Gotta try harder like the GOAT

[–] JoeTheSane@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Listen, I was 4 when Empire came out. Of course I did this.

Yesterday.

It still doesn’t work.

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I also tried using Matilda powers.

[–] Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, me too

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

After reading Hitchhiker's Guide, me and my cousin tried to fly by jumping off a (low) wall and forgetting that we were falling.

if you run fast enough horizontally you will fall but miss the ground.

And tried to bend a spoon by convincing yourself it doesn't exist

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You must be able to use the force for a prostate massage right?

[–] psycotica0@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

Ropes, I tell you.

No wonder the Jedi order is all about "no love or pleasure" or whatever or they'd get nothing done at all...

[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I did it today, the remote was too far away, so no harm in trying to see if I've accessed the force.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] BucketBong@p.hobo.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Nah, but I did pass out, so that might be something.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Bitch, I tried to make a ball of chi after seeing Gohan teach Videl how to do it

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

I refuse to believe anyone claiming to have both seen Dragonball anything and not attempted a Kamehameha

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

I mean... What if it works? You'd be a fool not to give a shot every now and then.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 weeks ago

Use the force, shoot webs, use telekinesis, launch a kamehameha...

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

Duhh, of course. I was quite persistent, actually...

[–] josephmbasile@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Oh I have the worst story about this. I was having this wonderful dream where I had telekinesis and I could do all kinds of awesome stuff. Then my alarm started going off.

[–] username_1@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 3 weeks ago

We just didn't want to disappoint D.Wader with our lack of faith.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 3 weeks ago

I have tried and failed in a dream at least once, because even when dreaming reality intrudes to make me miserable.

[–] arschflugkoerper@feddit.org 3 points 3 weeks ago

This and earth/water/fire/air bending obviously

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

I’ve found I can only do it to automatic doors.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 3 points 3 weeks ago

I keep trying and hoping eventually something will move.

[–] sidebro@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 weeks ago

Double sliding doors are fun

The remote is too far

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 2 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, but I didn't think it was force, just garden variety telekinesis.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

not only have I tried, I succeeded!

[–] specifiedhalibut@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Why not? I've seen that in movies

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 1 points 2 weeks ago

How is this considered interesting enough to upvote by literally anyone. Of course most people have tried that.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

I tried to move things using my mind. It was before I saw Star Wars though, but the idea was there.
