isn't it the same guy who made this weird mind control comic? i never seen the original only a version where a trans girl is brainwashed to realizing that she deserves more then a car and mcdonalds with a chaser looking sad out of the window

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 68 points 3 months ago

Not sure I've seen that one, but this is the comic artist for The Onion, satirising the style of those right wing comics (e.g Ben Garrison) that show contrived situations with labels all over them to try and make some point badly

Its an edit of this comic:

I was suspicious of the version in the post because the Kelly character wouldn't know who any of the people in the top right are.

[-] yilian@sopuli.xyz 17 points 3 months ago

Bahaha! they included Clarence Thomas

[-] FatVegan@leminal.space 14 points 3 months ago

That dude is an absolute genius when it comea to satire.

[-] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 months ago

I love how they can't even think of any but the most stereotypical black people.

Also, Clarence Thomas does not support equality and also would not be happy about porn.

[-] AmyAye@nord.pub 22 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

On the "stereotypical black people,", part of the bit for these specific Kelly Comics (from The Onion) is they are satire.

They are made by this guy

[-] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 3 months ago

Ah! That makes sense, thanks

[-] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 13 points 3 months ago

Clarence Thomas ... would not be happy about porn.

Classmates and coworkers have provided, in great detail, Clarence Thomas' love of porn. As have his ex-girlfriends. And we have his confirmation hearing making so much of it on the record.

[-] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 months ago

Oh i'm sure he likes lots of things that he is willing to get paid to oppose. But i'm sure if the other conservative justices are considering banning porn, he'll rule how he's being paid to. He always does.

[-] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 3 points 3 months ago

I'm really not defending Clarence Thomas here btw, he's absolutely a bought and paid for piece of shit, and he's also a sex pest and goes way over the line.

He has absolutely voted in favor of porn pretty consistently though. I'm sure a nice vacation, a small plot of land, or $100 gift card to Red Lobster can change that, but historically he's been really pro-porn. Because he's the kind of pro-porn person thats also a piece of shit, though.

[-] arrow74@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 months ago

It is the Onion's political comic

[-] SuperNovaStar@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Well that makes sense then, since it isn't meant to be taken seriously

Ahh cheers, yeah that one is more in line with the usual style

[-] HappyFrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago

So the bottom right character is actually supposed to be Vaush in the edit? lmao

[-] HappyFrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago

He dated a trans woman if that counts.

[-] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Lili is def Lili Elbe (my hero, wish I could do the same as her, transplant-wise), but who are the other two?

[-] Broadfern@lemmy.world 20 points 3 months ago

Marsha is most likely Marsha P. Johnson, famous trans woman and activist often credited with being among the first to participate in the Stonewall Riots

[-] birdwing@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Hmm, delving further I think Feinberg is this one - a butch transbian communist (holy based).

Under that's Marx, though I feel like Kropotkin also could've fit!

[-] julian_schwinger@beehaw.org 2 points 3 months ago

Another comment mentioned Leslie https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/21314326

I'm assuming Marsha is Marsha P Johnson

[-] espurr@sopuli.xyz 16 points 3 months ago

I literally have no idea what this comic is trying to say

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
