Unfortunately I think he either has hit, or is close to hitting the tipping point and returning to his more conservative views.
He's almost 60, started as a Republican around 40ish? And kept conservative views even after switching to D.
Like, he's just at that age where the brain starts losing critical thinking. When that happens the brain falls back on younger habits and patterns instead of trying to solve every new thing as a new thing.
It's just how the brain works.
Bernie is an outlier because when he was 20 he was in the civil rights movement, him falling back on old habits and patterns isn't that bad, because we still have the same problems.
If/when Jackson returns to his initial political views...
He entered politics as a Republican to protest against immigrants.
Maine deserves better. And they just got fucked.
Playner could have won the election, then stepped down and Maine could get a special election.
Instead the state party (run by Florida fuckups) picked a candidate that's going to only get more conservative over the next 6 years of the term he was handed.
For whatever fucking reason, Maine seems to love conservatism (case-in-point, Collins reelected since forever).
I guess at least Jackson is younger than Collins

Isn't that even what DSA wants to do? You need to unite the working-class, which means also reaching out to those people and bringing them back into the party. Whether or not that means appealing to their ignorance, or reframing the problem is ambiguous, but I think pointing the finger at Schumer (as opposed to say, Mamdani) is a good sign.
Honestly if it's done through actually helping people it's fine, the thing is though that the end goal should be to bring in disaffected folks who aren't directly aligned with either party and shore up existing voters. Going for Republicans is broadly a lost cause unless steps are taken to shit can their propaganda networks so ideological drift can cause regional base splitting.
Exactly what DNC wants to happen. Hell majority of them are right of Regan on policy. So I am not shocked they are championing another former Republican. Just like Elizabeth Warren is also former Republican. She was one while Regan was president and stayed that until the Clinton's took the Democrats to the right.

Jackson is not how you describe him. He is endorsed by DSA and Bernie as well. If Schumer and the DNC had it their way they'd have a rabid zionist up there libsplaining why the jewish identity trumps all civil rights of all arabs because the holocaust or some stupid shit, even though his version of Jewish identity is a racist caricature which just boils down to a jewish supremacist zionazi.

And he did sign "the peoples pledge" when he was running for Governor.

It didn't happen within six weeks of the election, so there's a good chance all this news gets flushed down the memory hole by election day. Every election cycle we play this game. It's six months of horrific headlines, a one-month lull, and then a sudden gusher of October Surprise Fascist Friendly media.
I do think that Dems in Maine are enjoying something like a 5-10 pt polling advantage, in no small part thanks to the aggressive GOTV and organizing the state's progressive movement has embarked upon. So I don't want to be a doomer and say this is Collins's race to lose. It's a Blue Year in what is shaping up to be a Blue State.
But people have been swinging and missing on Collins for over 20 years. She's a snake and you can't count her out until inauguration day.

They are vastly overestimating how much stupid voters care about ICE murders. There are many who either don't care at all or celebrate when they happen, and certainly wouldn't vote for a Democrat because of chaos in ICE policy. It doesn't affect them personally.

In case you did read it but it didn't make sense:
trump supporters would have liked that she talked to trump, but she said they'd stop doing pullovers, which they either liked or didn't like.
Then literal hours later, trump said the opposite.
That doesn't just mean they disagree, which would be bad for her turn out anyways, it means trump doesn't care what she says, to the point of apparently not even noticing she released a statement.

Collins is top of the ballot in Maine, this is about turnout, if she's not lockstep with trump, trump voters won't turn out for her.
That's why turnout matters, especially in midterms.
