MODERATORS
The threat of death (or "persecution") by outside assailants is a superb motivator. If you don't have any real threats, an aspiring demagogue can simply make one up. Same reason immigrants are a favored target of modern fascist movements.
Always good to learn more history.
But also, when people (of any kind) are being singled out - even one year is a long fucking time.
I wish more Christians had the sense to remember that persecution efforts have never stopped with trans folk, gays, immigrants, or vulnerable ethnicities.
The fascist assholes always eventually make it all the way through "anyone remotely inconvenient". And Christians are sometimes inconvenient, too.
But also, when people (of any kind) are being singled out - even one year is a long fucking time.
Say that to the pagans of the roman empire who were persecuted for centuries.
I would, yes.
And to the people beibg persecuted, today.
One year is too many.
I'm sorry, who names their kid Candida? Are her siblings Staphylococcus and Yersinia?
