I went to my favourite butchers on Friday. I probably should not be allowed there unsupervised: pork ribs, brisket, sirloin steaks and burgers. The ribs are going to the BBQ shortly and brisket is in sous vide for tomorrow.

I took the dogs for a swim earlier. Their pure joy and enthusiasm jumping in to fetch the ball is special!

Your dogs can swim at the butchers? Wow

Yeah, there's a butcher near us, it's great getting local food from them. Steaks an inch thick...

My week was good! Took the day off work mid week and went to the beach with the kids, then took them to a birthday party on Friday, our daughter's birthday party on Saturday.

Started reading "Dune", which I'm enjoying so far but it's kind of challenging as it's referred to lots of things that aren't explained yet! I finished reading a book called "Evil in high places" which I picked up randomly in Tesco but ended up really enjoying.

Going to make a curry later and take it to my dad's, we'll play some board games with the kids and get the kids to bed back at home and hopefully watch the Hungarian GP.

I bought a new bike through the cycle to work scheme and it should arrive on Wednesday, looking forward to taking it out for a spin! Although it's just my luck that the weather for the next week is a lot cooler with rain!

Birthday parties... ah I miss those (my daughter's grown up now)

Dune... that's a hellofabook... then you'll have to read all the others next. But there's (obviously) so much more in there than the films... enjoy!

Have you read all the books? I saw a comment that the first book is great but the rest are meh, not sure if that's true or just that one persons view!

I read the first book and loved it. Same for the rest, found that they're not necessarily better and don't follow the same characters or even a timeline, so I never bothered.
I'm so looking forward to the last movie though. I don't know if I've liked any as much since the LotR movies.

Not all the books, no. I read them more years ago than I care to remember, but I got bogged down in (I think) Children of Dune and never finished... (probably about the time I got my first serious girlfriend...) must get around to re-reading the books.

Like @filcuk@feddit.uk I'm waiting for the next film... but, after seeing a trailer recently, I just have this feeling it's not... quite...as good as I hope it will be... dunno, I'll still go watch it though ๐Ÿฟ

Good so far,
managing the heat waves better now,

and it's my second week as a member here and I'm finding my feet, and discovering the behaviour of the pages is very familiar, especially that "old." works as well for the layout.

How are you finding it? How did you find out out Lemmy / feddit.uk if you don't mind me asking? :)

I was covering for a colleague on holiday last week, but now I'm covering for 2, so I could have 50 people needing my help this week...

Oh and a manager wanted "an update", worst meeting I've had in a while... one of those that stick in your head and later on you think of all the great things you should've said.

Apart from that... all good ๐Ÿ˜

Motorbike was stolen and set on fire.

This week can get in the bin.
