This needs to be spun as for child safety. So pedophiles can't record kids in public. Fight fire with fire.

You are doing the "how do you want this wrapped?" comic, without irony.

I have a feeling this is gonna be the same result as when people signed to try and get the government not to do digital ID checks for accessing the internet. In one ear and straight shot through the empty void of an MP head to go out the other ear.

Would love to see it happen, though, if it does go to Parliament over there.

How about a smart necklace then? Or a smart-er watch? Dashcam? The shape doesn't really matter.

It does matter a little bit. At least I'd like to see you try to inconspicuously film someone with a smart buttplug.

Am I the only one who likes the idea of Smart Glasses? Augmented Reality would be so dope

It's definitely people confusing the form factor for the continuous involvement of spyware vendors.

If Facebook had made Android, your phone camera would be equally guilty.

This is a good point

Can we get a petition here in Canada too?

Not sure how I feel about them. On one hand they appear to allow pervy recordings, but banning something like this could open the way to prevent public recordings altogether by the back door. There has been ways to do covert recording in a similar way without the glasses in the past, so I think the main change is the blurring of special purpose hardware and everyday hardware.

I feel a specific offence for convert targeted recording of a person for sexual reasons would be better than just banning smart glasses.

It might actually be the fact that Facebook are the ones making that makes me not like them.

Have 4 lights Make their light flash and blink like a reversing dump truck everytime the camera is active, even if it isn't clicking a picture or recording a video.

That doesn't sound bad, but usually when you have a device you can modify it to remove any signals visible from the outside

Yes but it's meta, do you think they'll give you repair rights? You'll have to go aftermarket and take risks, which most people are not willing to do.

Don't get me wrong I would be much happier with a ban outright. But it does have good usecases. Charity my wife volunteers at, there is a blind lady that uses meta glasses to essentially read a lot of stuff like labels off of food packaging sings in front of the buildings etc etc. She could do it with her phone, but she is genuinely much happier with the glasses. Her alone is the reason I don't want to ban them outright. Maybe ban them for sighted people? I don't know.
